Car Target Group/Vehicle Rent

Options
I hired a car in Portugal via the above agency/company in August. I took out their full insurance cover which followwing theholiday seemed a good idea - a hub cap went missing which I had to pay 150Eur for.

I submitted all of the documentation to claim this back and Car Target Group confirmed they would pay out. This was at the start of October and they said I would receive payment within 30 days.

30 days came and went with no payment, so I chased them up. After several emails I finally received a response on 12th November saying it would be paid by the end of the week. The end of the week came and went, more emails, finally received another response on 20th saying it would be paid by the end of this week. Now coming to the end of Friday and surprise surprise no payment.

I have contacted the Financial Ombudsman (as they deal with some insurance claims) but they said they couldn't help and referred me to the European Car Hire Reconcilliation Service. Unfortunately they also can't do anything as Vehicle Rent are not members.

I'm at a loss as to how to reclaim this money now - I'm getting repeatedly palmed off by the rental company and can't think of any other organisations that I can contact to make them pay up. I've tried contacting a few people on twitter who seem to have had similar issues but had no response.

Any suggestions?

    Hi,

I have similar situation with them. The difference is that I had small damage on car. I am struggling with them since 24 Oct 2018.
After sending all documentation about damage and credit card charge they sent me message that they have issues with their accounting and they pay reimbursement back in three months. After that, they were quiet for another 1 month. I received new email today (09 May 2019) saying that they are processing the case.
I think they are FRAUD and SCAM company.

Anybody, please, share your experience with this company. Do yo have similar issues?

Hi I was wondering whether either of you have had your claims refunded?

It would appear I am in exactly the same position. I was told on 3rd Dec 2018 I would have my claim settled within 90 days, I was then informed on 18th January that it was in teh last stages of processing and the claim would be settled within 90 days. I was later promised it would be settled no later than 18th April 2019.

It is now the 10th May, I am calling them daily and they say that they cannot transfer calls to the Claims/Accounting dept and nobody ever bothers to ring me back.

If you have had any progress since your posts, I would be keen to hear it.

    Many thanks.
  • Hi Cf, which number you called them? Is this Slovenian number or UK?

Hello, I am having the same problem with the company now and I am just wondering if you have got your money back?

    Kind regards

  • Hi, I have exactly the same problem. Judging by this Forum and reviews on trustpilot this is their business model. So much for their 'Relax' package. If you read their T&Cs, you will see disputes have to be resolved in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Good luck with that. An authority needs to close them down and prosecute them. Slovenia is after all in the EU. I am in touch with the European Consumer Centre but progress is slow. I have also contacted the Financial Ombudsman but am expecting the same response as Superclarkk.. I have written to the Sunday Times Money section but have had no response. Trading Standards couldn't help. I am now thinking about the Advertising Standards Agency and my credit card provider. I will let you know if I make any progress.
  • I'm in the same boat.

The company accepted to pay me the 500 euro damage charge back within 90 days. It has now been 140 days - I've called them at least 4 times and emailed them over 10 times and I always get the same response about the accounting department being very busy and that they would escalate.

I've just emailed the UK European Consumer Centre.
  • i have exactly same problem - they agreed to pay around eur 650 but now i am chasing them for 5 months with no success - just same email saying it is with their accounts department. Did anybody succeed claiming through credit card company? Not sure how to go about - maybe through Slovenian Consulate raising a claim and complaint? any help/ thoughts will be appreciated.
  • Sounds like we're all being SCAMMED.

I'm in the same boat. Submitted a claim, been promised money within 90 days, and at the point of writing it's already been 140 days. Numerous phone calls and emails later, customer care refuses to answer questions, or to patch you through to the mythical accounting department.

I still see nobody reporting back with messages of their patience having paid off.
  • One thing you might try. When you call them, note the persons name you are speaking to. Make sure they know you are doing this. Note the date and time of the calls.

I had a similar fight with with an airline some time back. They kept promising a refund within x days. it never showed Finally, I had enough info. The next person I reached was informed of all the calls, dates, times etc. I promised it would go on a review website if I didn't get a refund within 5 days. I got it 2. Worth a try.
