Toddy, if you are always going to be going in 2 cars I would have thought you will be fine - the rear seats fold flat in the Durango, so it will be a 5 -seater with lots of luggage space, and 4 people in the other car. Make sure the other car is a medium though, we got a compact and the boot wasn't big enough for 2 suitcases!!

Just remember that parking in all the places is chargable (about $12, I think), so you will be paying double - but I am not sure what you would be getting if you went for a 9+ seater, never done anything that big!

Its a real mixture of people going. Ive been 5 times, some 3, some are newbies, so the probability i will be taxi man is gr8, although there will be 4 drivers. There will without doubt be days when 3 seperate destinations are on the agenda. As much as i,m trying to plan roughly each day when we go, you still need to have flexability me thinks . I have booked a villa at Windsor Hills who do shuttles to Disney at $10 pp return and $14 pp return to Universal which allows some flexability .Anybody know the cost of a taxi from Windsor Hills to Disney? Just off 192 near marker 4.Just another option.

Depends what you mean by parking? Price wise it is the same at the parks but manouevering the 12 seater is a bit more tricky!

I suppose my question is do they charge for 1 space or 2 because of the size. Im happy enough with the size, i can shift an artic in tight spaces so a wee van should be fine ;)

I am probably overlooking the obvious, but does anyone know how I can find out how much the collision damage waiver is with Hertz?

I've looked on their site but can't find anything.
Moving onto a better place...Ciao

I had one of these:

Plenty of room.

(GMC Acadia)

I got offered this car and its exact sister the Buick Enclave (same car dif badge) at alamo, its a luxury SUV and very expensive but very nice, Tiger Woods drives it. Space for 7 adults and about max 4 cases with hand luggage on lap or with 3rd row folded alot more. I would say max occupancy with luggage is 6 adults if 3rd row splits.

Has anybody stayed at the Solana Villa Resort? It looks really nice ... just wondering what is in the surrounding area. I believe the WDW parks are supposed to be about 15 mins drive away.

Stayed there for two weeks in August/September 2007. Really nice development, very quiet with an excellent well equiped club house. Villa's were newly built when I was there so they were top class. Excellent standard of fitting and furnishing, good size pools with a lot of them having hot tubs also. Only really minor complaint was street lighting leading in to the resort, could have been better. Need to really look out for the sign posts!!! Disney is really easy and quick to get to and is about 20 min drive:j

In my experience they charge the same. I had a 15 seater which they charged standard parking for so I assume this will be the same.

Just to clarify my earlier post, when I said "Not sure what you would be getting for a 9+ seater", I meant by way of vehicle, not by way of parking costs.

http://allears.net/pl/parking.htm

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARK AT THE DISNEY THEME PARKS?
As of August 3, 2008 the daily parking charges for various vehicles are:

Auto/Taxi/Limo/Shuttle/Motorcycle $12
Camper/Trailer $13
Bus/Tractor Trailer $16

Toddy - if you are going to be 3 smaller groups, have you considered getting a 3rd car as well (maybe a van and 2 compacts?) - unless you are happy to either chauffeur people or spend a day in the Villa (never a bad thing). but it is always cost v convenience

We're going at the end of this month, and hiring three cars (car 1 = 2 adults, 1 kid / car 2 = 3 adults / car 3 = 2 adults, 1 kid). The third car is for folks coming from Canada (who are arriving the day after us)

Although we will have these cars, if we are all going to Disney on the same day, then we will probably manage with 2 cars that day (or just one if we're not all going). In-laws are probably going to want to other things rather than Disney every day with us. We think this will work out okay.

Parking spaces are HUGE over there so you will be fine paying only once
