I've been reading loads of threads on this and other boards about the soaring costs of Disney tickets in the UK and loads of suggestions about where to get the better deals.
But how come nobody ever suggests just buying them when you get there?
When the gate price for a 7 day base ticket is $228, surely it's much cheaper than the £200 odd price here.
What's the obvious thing I'm missing??

Sickparrot - thedibb website is great for research on tickets.I am a Travel Agent
My company’s ATOL/ABTA numbers are L4337. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. ATOL numbers can be checked with the Civil Aviation Authority. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.0 -

The premium/ultimate tickets you can buy in the UK before you go all include park hopping and water parks, which you would pay extra for (if you wanted these) on top of your base ticket price.
if you know you only want to visit one park per day and/or don't want to visit water parks, the base tickets work out cheaper because you won't be paying for things you won't use.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

That's pretty much it, We're going over christmas/new year, we're unlikely to want the water parks or to park hop. We want to visit other places too (universal probably on new year's eve). I think a 5 day base ticket will be enough, though we'll maybe get 7 just in case.
Thanks, I thought I was missing something, Limeys can't buy US tickets, that kind of thing.
Cheers, AdyOut on blue six..

Ordered these on Sunday and Fed-Ex website says they have been delivered today - hopefully they are waiting for me at home
Sick Parrot - if you want less days you may find this a better bet - worked out cheaper for us as we only wanted 2 day tickets. (I think the prices are about the same as "On The Gate", so you are just hedging against changes in the exchange rate - I also bank with Nationwide so didn't get hit with charges for using my VISA and got the VISA wholesale rate

That's what we did, wasn't much difference in price between five and seven days, but it meant we could go just to watch fireworks one evening on a 'rest' day when DD wasn't exhausted from walking around the park all day.
