it was advice that was all! for the first timer to florida/orlando the things to do can be overwhelming. i was recommending the disney parks, as an all in ticket. the water parks arent disneydisneydisney as you put it they are great water parks, that disney own, better inmo than wetnwild and aqautica, and which you dont have to pay any extra for.
the op was looking for any advice not a trip planned out for them, and not knowing the budget, i was working on a basic one. yes you could do plenty of other stuff, gatorland, boggy creek, universals, busch, seaworld, wetnwild, aqatica, balloon rides, and anything else, but for a two week visit for the first timer with young children it would all be alot to take in.
perhaps i should have had a small disclaimer:- other parks maybe available, comes in other colours, and may contain nuts.
    sorry for any advice given

    I am sorry.

    Please accept my apologies.

Dazzer, the sentiment is clearly there but to advise someone in such a restrictive manner such as Disney, Disney, Disney is - for want of a better word - wrong.

In your opinion, just as its your opinion that Seaworld isn't worth visiting which certainly isn't my opinion.

There is a wealth of information and views in this thread, the user doesn't even need to go back to the beginning as all the questions have been answered in the last few pages and all of them are personal opinions and certainly not wrong.

  • We are considering doing a limo transfer to our hotel but are travelling with 2 small children (2yo and 3month old) who will obviously need car seats. From what I remember of my last limo experience there weren't seat belts to secure car seats with.

Does this mean that I can't do a limo transfer with young children or do they not need to be belted in when travelling in such cars?

I am hesitant about booking it if the car seats aren't used as it just doesn't seem right however it would be a fantastic start to the holiday.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated
  • I find that doing research before I travel pays off in two ways:

First, it makes the trip more enjoyable because you will find special, unique places to see in any city you plan to visit. The research also builds more anticipation and excitement for your trip.

Second, research will help you find the best deals for hotels and attractions. I found several good sites for Orlando travel: Orlando Hotels, Vacations Orlando, and Disneyland Hotels.

Another good resource is the Auto Club as they have free travel guides and maps for members.

    I agree.

But to improve on that let me give a little story.

There is a snidey back street pub in Kissimmee called the Fox and Hounds or something. Its just down from the Rovers Return. Anyway, i decided i fancied a Shepherds pie and a pint of Stella so called in. Started to chat the bird up behind the bar and she gave me ... well...... loads of tips of what to do.

Moral - ask the locals - you may end up getting more than the Shepherds pie you hoped for :D

Just back from Florida for the 4th time and had a ball! However was very quiet compared to previous years Ive been. Has anyone else noticed this? Bought express passes for universal but really shouldnt have bothered never seen it so quiet. I guess the credit crunch has really kicked in big time there! New Simpsons ride was a blast, went to Clearwater which as said in previous posts is well worth the visit , Disney's Halloween party and also did the helicopter ride over Disney which was something different to do as well as all the usual parks, shopping etc. Phew! Now need another holiday to get over it! Oh well back to reality!
