We're complete newbies at all this florida business...but have been looking at cheap deals from 16th of August - 30th August for 7 days somewhere in there!
I've come up with:
£1449 at the Mystic Dunes or £1488 at the Holiday Inn International Drive room only for myself, my husband and our 3 year old daughter flying on continental from Manchester. Is this a good deal? Has anyone stayed at either of these places?
Our criteria are: - hotel with big bed or 2 beds in one room, swimming pool/playground area to spend a couple of days relaxing and to be within a bus ride of Disney World, possibly Seaworld, possibly one of the water parks and outlet/factory shopping trip thrown in there too! We're not aiming to go to a theme park every day - probably only 3-4 days out of the 7.
I am assuming a) food will be relatively cheap espec given the $ exchange rate b) the weather will be hot and sunny c) transport should be good from the hotels to the theme parks/shopping via bus or taxis won't be too costly...Is this right? We're kind of on a low budget so cheap and cheerful is the theme!! Only even considering going because it seems to be around £400-500 each to go even to Greece this summer!!
Thanks in advance for any help!0 -

a) Yes the food is very reasonable, most places do free breakfast for kids per paying adult(usually buffet) but food does tend to be approx half the price it is here.
b) It will be scorching hot but expect heavy rain, at least a couple fo the days your there.
c) Wouldn't even consider going to Orlando without a car and as such have never ever used public transport so cant really help on this one im afraid.0 -

Agree with all sturll says, plus:
Long way to go for 7 days IMHO, especially to spend half that time outside the parks.
Don't forget to factor in the cost of park tickets (these cost more per day when you buy for for fewer days)
Will be very humid, as well as roasting hot. Usually rains every afternoon that time of year and water parks etc often close during storms.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

In August, queues for one ride at a Disney waterpark can be upwards of an hour.illegitimi non carborundum0

Hot news from Florida!
As of tomorrow (Sunday) Disney single day tickets up to $75! All other tickets up as well.
As for your seven day trip. I would do the following.... It may seem a pain but it well worth it.
Once you have your flights sorted, you have your dates. Use the hotel websites such as marriott.com etc and look at rates. You will want a twin queen room which has two double beds. As for area stick to Lake Buena Vista or LBV as its none as this will get you within walking distance of some things at a place called crossroads and also will provide Disney transport.
Also, it may take a while but take a look back over some of the posts here like from page 60 onwards. I posted lots of info on travel adn buses etc.

All advice welcome...
We are 2 adults one 6 yr old and one 3 yr old, we live in bristol but are happy to fly from anywhere that is cheapest. Probably going away for 1 week max but I dont mind when as long as we get either Xmas or New year there.
Well excited!!!!:j
Hiya
New year is a massive holiday here. Christmas (or the holidays as this PC nation insists on saying) is also big but everything is open on Christmas day which is weird.
A great time to come, the malls and stores all look awesome and they will wrap all your presents too!
