Absolutely brilliant to have made so much and seen off that Currys debt.  It takes a lot to keep so motivated and  I'm genuinely happy for you.  Here's to a profitable June now.

Whenever you mention that tomato focus group I have to smile.  I don't know why I find it amusing but I can't for the life of me see how they could have spun out a survey on tomatoes over so long LOL.
Tell me about it!! I've totally gone off tomatoes now!!   :D

Are you still liking it as much? xx
Do you mean Swagbucks? If so, then no. I don't like it anymore. I think I'll just dip in and out of there every so often, but won't earn as much on there as I used to, as it just takes too long.

No I mean your new gadget.
I cant remember its name.  xx
My Ninja Foodi Grill. Yep, still love it. When I first got it, my OH said it would be a fad and would end up in the back of the cupboard, but I have used it nearly every day, so am definitely getting my money's worth.

  • I love it when a gadget/appliance turns out to be really useful and worth the money.  I've bought more than a few  over the years that ended up in the back of a cupboard.

I'm hankering after a new steam iron.  My current one was passed on to me by a friend in 1990, not sure how long she'd already had it for.  It's been  used most days ever since but the thermostat/temperature setting thing is playing up now and either barely gets hot at all on high or is too hot for the fabric at minimum setting.  Also, it's really heavy compared to most other irons my friends/family have.  Any recommendations for a lightweight, cordless steam iron?  Preferably not eye-wateringly expensive too.

    May Earnings:

£15.00 - Amazon voucher from Swagbucks
£5.00 - Amazon voucher from Lifepoints
    £5.00 Amazon voucher from Answerpoints
£5.00 - Amazon voucher from the Hiro app
    £45.91 - Prolific
    £256.57 - Textbroker
    £70.00 - Focus Group

    £402.48

BOOM!!! Over £400 for the month and the Curry's debt is cleared. I was only £1.11 short in the end, so I can live with that. I might be able to add something else over the weekend, but probably not, so this should be my May total now.

No time to rest though - it's on to the next debt, which is my credit card. This is going to take much longer to clear, so I'm aiming for by the end of the year. The current balance is £2,109.70, so I think with the interest added on each month (it's not a cheap card unfortunately, and my credit isn't good enough for a balance transfer), I will have to be clearing £400 off it a month to clear it in the next 6 months. Obviously all my extra earnings will be going towards it, but I don't think that will be enough, and I'll have to use a bit from my wages/PIP too. I reckon I can probably clear at least £300 a month from my extra earnings, so it won't be that much more that I have to find.

Going to have to get creative. Some things I have thought of are:
    • Paying something off it each day. Even if it's just a pound, then it will be better than nothing. Obviously there will be days I can pay stuff off from my extra earnings, but that won't be every day. So I'll start that from 1st June and see how it goes.
    • Stop buying stuff. To be honest, I don't really buy much anyway, and it's gotten to the stage where I hate parting with money (had to buy some new ink cartridges the other day, and it really annoyed me!). My OH on the other hand buys so much crap, that it would make your eyes water!! I can only nag him so much, but I can't really physically stop him buying stuff. I can only control what I spend and where my money goes. So the rules are if it's something I want, but don't need, I'll put it on my Christmas list. If it's something I actually need, I'll try and wait so I can buy it with a voucher earned from surveys, or if I can't wait, find an offer to get it cheaper or think of another way round the problem. A good example of this is my skincare products. I ran out of my favourite moisturiser last month. I've got a load of free samples and some other things that I can use instead, so I'm going to try and go until Christmas without buying any toiletries.
    • Do more surveys. I didn't really do many surveys during May. I know that the bulk of my money comes from Textbroker, but surveys are great opportunities to get invited to product testings and focus groups. They are doing a lot more online now, because of social distancing, so I need to do the surveys to possibly get the bigger rewards.
    • Freebies. I've been applying for lots of free samples recently, which will help my goal of not spending and keep my toiletries supply going. I'll post on here when I get freebies through.
    • Birthdays and Christmas. I want to learn from previous years and save early for Christmas, and try and cover birthdays too. I think the majority of presents can be purchased from Amazon, and I could save PayPal money for the rest. Anything I don't spend from my wages can be paid off the credit card.
It's going to take a big effort to get this card paid off this year, but I know I can do it.

    Emz xx

    Morning everyone

I'm just posting before my physio session at 10am. I had a pretty quiet weekend. There wasn't much around in the way of articles, so I took the opportunity for a couple of days break. I actually went out for a walk on Saturday (in the evening, avoiding everyone else), and we also went round to my sister's, and I sat in the garden for a bit, socially distancing, and I went in through the side gate, so didn't go in the house. It was nice to actually see the kids for a bit, instead of just saying hello briefly from my front door.

Anyway, onto money matters. I actually realised the other day that I've got 7 months to clear the card and not 6 (lockdown brain taking effect), so it works out around £350 a month I'll need to pay. I've made a small payment off today. I cut down my Giff Gaff plan last month from £10 to £6 (as I'm not going out, so not using any data as I'm constantly connected to the WiFi). So I've paid the £4 I've saved off the card. So my balance is now £2,105.70. My aim for June is to get it below £1,800.

    Better go.

    Emz xx
