Declaring now at £107.69/£110 with 21/28 NSDs. Really chuffed with that as -
(1) I have a small surplus
(2) It included Christmas:)
(3) I'd already reduced this month's budget by £30 to make up for the previous month's overspend:):)
Definitely joining the Jan 2019 thread as it really keeps me on track and I hope I'll be "seeing" you all on there too as I love seeing what you've all been up to and how you're managing with the challenge.
Not too many Crimbo lo's to deal with but I've been through the F&F today and can see some things need to be dealt with pdq so this weekend I'll be in the kitchen cooking up a storm and freezing - good job there's some wriggle-room in there!
Nothing needed from the shops this coming week so I'll leave by wishing everyone a Happy & Peaceful New Year. See you all in 2019!Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 -

I hope everyone had a good Xmas. I'm not a fan. I hate the injustice of it all. People starving, homeless n others running 'round trying to buy needless/unwanted presents for each other, sorry I do it myself, #FoodForThought. I did have a big highlight, Jeremy Corbyn came in to the Crisis centre I was working in. I was on the reception when he arrived, then I went to the volunteers rest bit, n WHO walks in, then I went to the front gate and WHO walks out - Jeremy himself - ahemm you stalking me or wot Jez - #BackOff - I did manage to have a mini chat with him and a few selfies, which was lovely #ChanceBeautifulNow .
Declaring at £62.30. I have added up my total for the year, deducting my bulk fund and it averages out to £75.92 per month over the year, so I'm very happy with that. Have a beautiful new year everyone.0 -
I have spent £1245.25, give or take, in 2018, with another shop left to do. I have a Tosscco voucher for £5 off £50, so am hoping this will be no more than £45. I pad out my normal spend with cat food, which is never wasted.. So, I am declaring now at £1280 for groceries and £535 for the cats.
This an overspend of about £30 per month in total. I'm happy with this and will make a more realistic budget in 2019 as too much over-frugality sees me react by overindulging.
Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous New Year

Declaring for December at £544-ish, just under target! £18 spent at the local good-but-expensive butchers for a joint of beef for a mini family get-together today - a mere 7 of us! It will just stretch to another meal - probably a stir-fry - for us two omnivores once DS3 has returned to his ivory towers later on this week.
I'm quite pleased that I managed to get all of the festive fare inside that figure; I did have cash put aside for it (saved throughout the year, along with money for the presents) which hasn't been used. That'll see us through the bits of January when I'm not fit to go shopping & the girls step into the breach if there's nothing suitable in the freezer. I've left my January target at our "normal" £400 but hope to come in significantly under that.
Wishing you all a happy & frugal/fruitful New Year!Angie - GC Sept 25: £226.44/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Monthly budget will aim for £300 £305.20/£300
To include all food, toiletries, cleaning stuff, cat food and cat litter, non alcoholic drinks.
NSD will aim for at least 15 19/15
Good morning everyone.
I'm now declaring for December. My total isn't far from my aim, just £5.30 overspent. I'll blame that on Mr Van going off piste from the shopping list yesterday! But, we have bought extra food that will last us well into January.
Thank you Elsiepac and everyone else for organising and spurring everyone on throughout this challenge.
I have now proved to myself that it is possible to feed 1 fussy cat plus 4 adults breakfast, lunch or pack up and dinner everyday without going hungry or suffering from malnutrition.
I think the secrets to success for me have been meal planning, eating meat free meals, cooking from scratch as much as possible and looking through store cupboards and freezer to see what I have in before shopping.
Wishing everyone a very happy new year :beer:0 -
Shall be declaring later as have a small spend to do (familam have been invited to a do) need to take something for the boys to drink, I don't drink alcohol so may get a couple of mixers for me to drink, I do like the fevertreee elderflower mixer..
In case I forget later.. Happy new year.. Hoping it will bring you peace, prosperity and be what you need.."There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇🥇🥇0 -
