The tips do seem a little complicated, but this is a section from there FAQs so hope this helps
Tips work in conjunction with your Watchlist. When you have earned one or more Tips in a Scout Room you can use them to Tip artists on your Watchlist. If an artist you have Tiped then goes forward to the Showcase and secures enough support to reach the financing stage you will automatically receive a FREE Backstage Pass worth £5 in that Artist. Does anyone know..do you have to listen to the whole track to earn money?

You can listen to just 60 secs. To speed it up I open notepad and write the review during the 60 secs, then copy and paste once the review section becomes available, but warning songs can easily change after the 60 secs have happened. One song I reviewed was 3 mins long and it was 1 min 20 before the vocals came in !!!!0 -
