They make money from royalties, but with so many ppl jumping aboard... i really cant see how in the short term they arent gonna get absolutely battered for money....

I think they will be investing in the best bands themselves having already got thousands of people to evaluate them. Interestingly the prize money that the bands,artists etc win looks as though it comes from scouts promises of finance. We being the scouts. So we earn money by scouting,promise someone a fiver and that finances the band that wins the showcase.
The tips are so that you can choose the best of the bands you add to your watch list.People with the most tips are entered into the showcase and whoever wins the showcase,wins the finance to make their album.

I received an email like that too, they might be automatic if your reviews are short. fewsongs I reviewed really weren't to my taste, so I said "probably OK, but not something I like". I really wanted to just skip them so I could write more detailed reviews on things I did have an interest in.


I worked out how to use tips the other night.

It's a pity you can't see all the reviews for a band. My personal pet hate is what I call "US shouty teen angst rock", even though it's popular with many.
