Can anyone please help I have 9 plug sockets not working .
I have looked at Fuse box which is old with cartridge inserts these have wires in tact and have not blown
No sockets are working although if you plug a night light plug into them it lights up which i guess means a current is going to sockets
Are there any suggestions please

You should get an Electrician to look at this urgently to diagnose what is occurring in relation to these socket outlets. (There is no such thing as "plug sockets" - sockets are the female outlet on the wall and plugs are the male part which is inserted into these.)
In the meantime don't use the socket outlets. This is not a matter for you to resolve. It's a matter for an Electrician.{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}0 -
Most likely, a loose or damaged wire somewhere. Just enough power gets through to light a nightlight, but not enough for anything else.
You need an electrician to fault-find, and trace where the break is.
If it's a ring circuit, then there must be two breaks somewhere. if it's a radian, there may be only one.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
How have you discovered they are not working? You could be using a defective lamp/hoover/etc. Or are you using different appliances in some of the sockets?I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

Agree with above posts.
Potentially bad connections or similar wiring problem in your property.
This could cause a fire owing to heating at the fault or faults. Do not use the sockets and call in a competent electrician to diagnose and fix!0 -
Hi guys
Thanks for your comments, I have tried to manually inspect wires in most of sockets, a hair dryer was plugged into a downstairs socket on Friday night (normally done uostsirs) I was out at work and had phone call to say electric Gone off but not at time of using dryer, later on that night.
I will call electrician

Used hair dryer seems to have caused problem but not at time of using, if one socket blown will it take out the other 8 that are not working
