as others have said its a saloon shape so no need.
I am not sure there is a real need on any car, I rarely use mine and could get by without it.
I drove double decker buses for years, without being able to see out of the rear screen, there are many other examples of no rear screens0 -
I find that the beading is sufficient. While droplets remain on the window, they don't build up beyond a certain point or smear out, so they hardly affect your visibility.I have found Rain-X or equivalent very good on the front screen as the water beads and the wind blows it away. However, I have also tried it on side and rear windows and it's much less successful. The water seems to bead into tiny droplets which look like condensation, and there isn't the force of the air to blow them clear. On a cold morning, I have had to wipe them all manually with a cloth before setting off.0 -

I'm taking about the side windows here. On a few cold mornings last winter, the side windows were completely opaque, as if they were misted up totally from the inside. The water droplets were very even but absolutely tiny. Same for the front and rear screens, but a quick flick of the wipers cured that. I assumed that the side windows would clear with a bit of wind, but they didn't. I ended up wiping them manually until the spring. I decided to use Rain-X only on front and rear after that.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
you must leave the climate control on all the time, dont turn it off.0

I can't say I've seen that effect.
When I need to clear my side windows I just wind them down and back up again.0 -
The Superb is a hybrid, it's a saloon shape with a hatchback boot, so not flatbacked.
Wipers generally aren't fitted to saloons because they don't suffer from water being sprayed across the rear window when travelling at speed.
Agree with using Rainex as an alternative.
I think the Mk3 is not a twinback (split boot_hatch) like the Mk20 -
We're spoiled these days. When I started driving (1963) I don't think any cars had rear wipers. We coped.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Most cars had proper boots in those days, and didn't need a rear wash/wipe. When hatchbacks came along, dirty rear windows started to be A Thing.iolanthe07 wrote: »We're spoiled these days. I started driving in 1984 and I definitely didn't have a rear wiper. I'm pretty sure that my first car didn't suck muddy spray on to the rear screen in the way that my modern car does.0
