Car Trade in value

Hi everyone - I'm looking for a little advice please.

I've recently agreed to purchase a new car from Arnold Clark on a PCP agreement. This included trading in my existing car towards the value.

I believe I got a reasonable offer for my existing car and I agreed to their valuation. However, the MOT is due on the 15th of December and I suspect there may be some work needing done.

My question is - when I go to collect my new car and hand over the keys to my current one, will they do any further testing which may impact the value of their offer? Or is it basically a case of, they've made me an offer, I've accepted and they now need to honour it? (Note: I've paid £100 to secure the finance deal already).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

When are you collecting it? Have they inspected it yet? If so they shouldn't change their valuation. but then again it is arnold clark.

I am waiting to get a call to inform me when it is ready to be collected but I've been told it'll be here before the end of the month. They inspected it the day I purchased my new car but I believe that was only in the forecourt and they never took it into their service centre.

I'm hoping as I have a valid MOT currently and I've accepted their original valuation that there shouldn't be any issues but I haven't been in the position of selling/trading in a car before.

    Cheers

I'm sure it will be fine. Normally just hand them the keys and paperwork for it then pick up the new ones and go! (after paying naturally)

No doubt you will be back with a complaint or two about Arnold Shark!

Should have done some research then before not after committing to purchase.

All the cars I have traded in the value has been agreed on the day I ordered the new car. My last one the mileage went up by nearly from 18k to 22K in 4 weeks.

This was due to me going backwards and forwards down to the south coast as my father was ill. 750 mile round trip. I did the trip 12 times in the 4 weeks but used my wife's car for more of the trips.

The garage questioned it but as it was still within the agreed limit of mileage on the PCP agreement for the 2 years I had the car it was there problem not mine.

When they sold my old car 2 months later they still made a small profit based on the trade in price they gave me. I know this as the new owner contacted me about something on the car.

If your car is in the same condition it was when you agreed the trade in them it should not be a problem.

I'm not sure why you are deliberately being unhelpful on a forum specifically design to offer people help, but if you get your kicks out of it, who am I to judge.

    Thanks Merlin.

The car is in the same condition and has only done approx. 250 miles since their inspection. I had a feeling that the valuation would hold up when I go to collect it but I just wanted to be prepared for any nasty surprises.

    Cheers
