Test drive went well enough. Never really noticed anything suspect.
Driving home last night and noticed a whistling noise coming from front brake, left hand side.
Had a look online and realised that there seems to be a growing amount of problems with regards to the engine. Turns out that some have been going on fire
Upon further inspection, it turns out my new car is to be recalled due to a clutch issue. The salesman never made any reference to this whatsoever.
It was also communicated to me that the car had a full service history however upon further inspection there is a 2 year gap between services.
I only bought the car yesterday, using a bank loan.
What’s my options lads?
Your only option is to carry on and enjoy your car - if that’s possible.
I once successfully rejected a car with Arnold Shark with good reasons. You have no chance.0 -
I love that idea. Dear Sir please return your car to a dealer as soon as possible for a enhancement.
Normally there have to be a few deaths before manufacturers do a recall.
For a clutch recall?
Our A45 Merc was in for some sort of software update.
Happens all the time, particularly now so much of cars are computer controlled.0 -

The clutch recall is to stop the vehicle catching fire. Your software update was obviously very important as you've no idea what it was for. If your car needs a safety related software update it will be recalled. If it's otherwise working fine it doesn't need a software update. Some gullible people take their cars in to main dealers all the time for 'software updates' as though the dealers will be desperate to do something that doesn't need doing. You'll be lucky to get your oil changed.0 -

You're right, I've no idea what it was for now - the letter explained it but i cant remember now. Not something i tend to need to remember for life. I think it started with an A. ABS or airbag i think. Both seem important to have working so we were happy to get it done whichever it was. I do remember we did get coffee and pastries while we were there and they valeted the car too so all good as far as i'm concerned.
I tend to find if you're going to go to the trouble of buying a car new then if theres recalls to be done, its best to get them done. I'm surprised you dont agree. I certainly dont vet them and say "well i dont think i need this one....". Only happened once so far BTW in two years. And more pertinently to the point in hand - a car needing a recall done is not grounds for rejection.
General software updates they do when the car is in getting serviced. And yes, they do change the oil thanks. Thats what we pay them for and they are a reputable dealer. Sorry if you've been going somewhere thats been fleecing you blind.0 -

Have you heard of the story of Cry Wolf?0 -
Had a look under the bonnet at the weekend and found out that there was a leak in the water tank.
The coolant fluid level was a inch below the minimum.
Took the car down on Monday and handed the car back. They sold the car with a fault. A dangerous one may i add, especially when you take the fact I have a young family into consideration.0 -

What has having a young family got to do with anything?
Are you special?0
