This has to be a wind up surely.... The email address they've given to contact them if the DD instruction is incorrect is an invalid email address....

No. I am. Those estimates were given before they told me about their latest price hike, I wondered how much less it would be given their new pricing structure and in January would it be cheaper to remain with OTM. On the comparison sited Zapp November is not listed you see.
Despite telling me their DD would be lower as they’d made an error they still took £262 out in November instead of the £240 they said they would. I only use around £85pm so they’re taking 3x the amount, emailed them asking for my, now £850 credit back on the 20h Nov and still haven’t had a reply.
The quotes in my post were given on the last figures, before the increase. If that makes any sense
Hi Lijong,
Looks like your struggling a little. Thats ok, i did see you mentioned previously that you have certain life struggles to deal with.
Its hard to guess what your usage is.
However, the estimated annual usage for a household is said to be...
Electricity - 3100 Kwh
Gas - 11000 Kwh
My personal usage last year was....
Electricity - 2408 Kwh
Gas - 9700 Kwh
This year i predict my usage to be...
Electricity - 3000 Kwh
Gas - 8500
That should give you an idea of general numbers.
Ive just done a recent comparison for a couple i know.
Toto & Avro energy came out the cheapest for fixed rate tariffs.
Always get a price directly from their sites to be sure of upto date prices.
For a variable deal, 'Peoples Energy' came up cheaper than both the above by about another £55 a year.
However, this a variable deal and maybe prices will rise before they fall.
You could go for the cheaper variable deal until they raise prices and hope that one of the above fixed rate deals is still available at Toto or Avro.
If i remember correctly, the couple i got a quote for, the prices for the average usage was....
Utilita - £1210 per year
Toto - £1058 per year Fixed rate
Avro - £1059 per year fixed rate
Peoples Energy - £1010 per year VARIABLE RATE
So hope that helps you in some way.0 -
@Billy the fish
Thank you sincerely for that. You're right, it is hard to know given all the compare sites aren't up to date with their prices re:OTM hikes, some don't even list the plan I am on. I think I am going to go with People's. If it is a saving, great. if it's a little more so be it because trying to communicate with OTM is awful.
Thanks for taking the time to help me. I don't do numbers well, so thank you0 -

No problem. Glad you found info useful.
Just keep an eye on any price changes and when they go any higher than a current fixed tariff switch supplier.
When you switch, keep an eye on your final bill from OFTM as it should contain your annual usage figures. These will come in useful for future comparisons.0 -
Im posting a timeline of events with myself & OFTM.
For amusement and a general log for myself and maybe others can relate. Todays email sits the cherry firmly on the cake :rotfl:
7/5/18 - Sign up to Outfox the market. DD = £60.11 x 12
14/11/18 - Notification of Direct Debit change
15/11/18 - Revised Direct Debit = £84.15/£36.07
15/11/18 - Spoke on phone. Told £100 leaving fee. But offered a 48hour call back
15/11/18 - Called again. Engaged
15/11/18 - Tried live chat but was disabled
15/11/18 - Contacted via FB to inform DD cancelled. Blocked me from FB
16/11/18 - Notification of changes fair & accurate
16/11/18 - Email of complaint sent outlining my concerns
16/11/18- 2nd email of complaint sent with generic response of changes
17/11/18 - Advisory that DD is cancelled
19/11/18 - Confirmation of new pay structure
19/11/18 - Sent email complaining of lack of contact from previous complaint.
19/11/18 - Called. On hold for 15+mins. Female hung up when answered!
19/11/18 - Called again. Engaged
21/11/18 - Called again. Engaged
21/11/18 - Called. On hold 21mins. Sam answered, no resolve & no manager to advise. Promised a 5 day call back. I requested account be held whilst in dispute and payments to be taken from credit.
22/11/18 - Old DD £105.19/£45.08 New £84.15/£36.06
26/11/18 - Generic complaint email response
26/11/18 - Sent email to keep complaint open
29/11/18 - Reply from 19/11 email saying complaint sent to credit control
4/12/18 - Meter Reading request but also says 'Im switching supplier'!!
Todays email confirming im switching supplier, i would guess, make quite a few members smile thinking things have gone smooth with the switch so far.
However, im on a fixed deal from May 2018 - May 2019. At no point at all have i attempted to switch supplier.
And at no point will i be leaving the contract.
The email is the normal 'Meter reading request' email. But underneath the request is the confirmation of how delighted they are at me switching supplier :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Looks like they are being incredibly sneaky.
Surely if a customer requests a switch, a specific email would be sent to confirm such. They wouldnt just bury that info in a meter readings email request would they??:D
I got my eyes on you OFTM, if you want me to leave, just say so, pay the £100 leaving fee to me and ill off :rotfl::rotfl:
Its going to get a whole lot more entertaining by the looks of it.0 -
Hmmm, actually, after re-reading the email, it actually looks like they are taking over my supply as though im a customer from another supplier just going to them!!!
I wonder if my tariff will change. My statement is due tomorrow so will delve deep into it when it arrives.0 -

My DD has changed several times and the price increases nearly as much I am in the process of changing supplier, had an email from my new supplier that my cooling off period has ended and they will be contacting me in a few days for an opening meter reading
Checking my bank account OFTM have reinstated my DD I have nearly £200 in credit so I have promptly cancelled it again they have more than enough of my money and will owe me well over £100
Is it legal to change DD amounts every few days my DD date is 22nd December so I will be gone long before that, I know I may have a problem getting my credit refund but don't want to risk them taking another payment just can't trust OFTM anymore which is a shame as when I signed up they were very good even refunding me for being at the wrong membership level
Can they refuse to pay back my credit interest because I have cancelled my DD or will they like I have in the past from other companies send me a cheque or should I inflate my meter reading to cover at least part of the credit balance0 -
Had my email this morning. Been paying £26 until this month's £45.50. Now they're increasing it to £157.70.
What's going on?0 -
If my maths is right, that’s a 500% increase! Puts my 125% increase to shame. I really feel for you.0
