"My suggestion is that you follow the suggestion given by OFTM that you contact them to discuss either the amount of credit they hold (i.e the money you have lent them, via the agreed payments they have collected via DD) or to discuss the level of those DD payments in light of the credit they already hold."

    I have done exactly that.
As regards a refund OTM say that I can either have £40 refunded to me or they can spread that £40 over my remaining 12 payments reducing each payment by £3.33.
As far as the level of my past DD"s (resulting in a large credit) & proposed DD hike they will not budge & say the hike is happening & that it is the fairest way to ensure that customers pay for their usage.
Have you had any dealings with OTM yourself wavelets as my experience is that it is like knocking your against a brick wall.

If you are not happy with the complaint resolution, I'm sure you know what your options are
(it depends really on what chance think you you have convincing someone else that their resolution offered is not reasonable)

If you really are that unhappy with your energy supplier, you also know what your options, even if it will cost you £100, something you were made aware of when you elected to join the supplier on the tariff you did.
  • Yes but I as far as I am concerned I am being forced to leave OTM due to their unreasonable behaviour & unreasonable proposed DD hike.
I am not leaving because I want to so why should I have to pay £100 for the privilege ?
Are you a OTM customer ?
Do you have a large credit with them ?
Are you happy with what is going on ?

worth taking a look at and going through the process, even if in the end you decide not to use it. I had a complaint against one of the major companies where I had been overcharged on switching even though I had given accurate meter readings to both companies on day of switch. It was only a small amount, but my leaving company charged me extra money. When I complained about it they tried to say that they were operating within the regulations, and didn't have to do anything about it. Absolute Rubbish, I thought to myself, so I went to Complaint Resolver, got them to take it up, and the next thing you know, I got a phone call from their complaints department offering me £25 even though the amount of discrepancy was small! What could I do...but accept...:j Hope this helps...

The webchat is offline and no reply to an email sent yesterday. I'm tempted to start a switch and see if they bother to contact me then!
I switched to Bulb not the cheapest but I truly intend to cut the £67.50 monthly they want as it's cheaper than both revised quotes from OFTM they are screwing me on the monthly fee at £10.47 + VAT, I was on the £8.99, now £9.61 fee, when I joined I was paying 10.4p and 3.25p per Kw/h they now want 13.1p and 2.75p per Kw/h
I sent then the following email
Within the space of 4 days I received two emails from yourselves the first saying my monthly DD was increasing from £50 to £87.50 a month from October to March and £37.50 from April to september then one saying to £70 and £30. Both estimates are unacceptable to me as you increased my monthly DD from £32. to £50 to cover a shortfall in payments for some months, how was I to know the £32 included the monthly fee, although I should have guessed as as 10 years ago I was paying £28 a month and building up a credit, no a large amount but credit no the less.
I have now built up a small credit in the winter months and find that is so even though you charge me £10.47+VAT as the monthly fee on my usage, this is the incorrect amount as over 12 months I will still have ony used the amount covered by the £9.61 payment for both gas & electric combined. I now inform you that I have found a new supplier and will be supplied by them from the 14/12/18

I hope they have a painful demise as they sure as hell deserve it.
Someone please tell me what money is
  • HI ALL

I have just switched form EON to Outfox as Eon have been taking £175 (I live alone!) per month - so switched to Outfox on the basis that they would be charging around £50/month - however just had my confirmation email from them, stating its actually £70/month also saw the note on their winter price hikes!

I've emailed them regarding the difference in quote & actual cost but just wondering if anyone has any advice on where you stand when quoted is different to how much they are actually going to charge you....

    thankyou!

AmoiPatsy - others will I expect chime in but the short answer is yes. OTM are one of the (but not the only) cheaper suppliers (depending on your usage pattern) - for now. What is going to happen to their prices let alone them in the coming months is far from clear. My own view taking everything into account is a current good value fix is the better bet (and it is all a gamble) as before too long even the cheaper variable rates will overtake the current (but not future) fixes. I am currently moving to a fix that will initially be about £150pa (annum) more than OTM but I expect within months the variable raters including OTM will be more expensive than my fix.

The other thing to bear in mind is that there is considerable circumstantial evidence (depending on how you read the evidence) that OTM are in financial trouble, and you may not wish to be a rat joining a sinking ship.

Am I the only one who thinks that this whole energy market caper is some sort of Apprentice spoof gone wild?

    Sixteen budding entrepreneurial energy suppliers

    Twelve tough weeks

Only one candidate will remain to become Lord Sugar's new energy partner...

Or would Lord Sugar fire them all in week one?

The article shows what might happen if/when OFTM go under.

I don't think OTM will have 'quoted' anything for you. It's more likely to have been described as an 'estimate'. Also, don't forget, the extra you are being asked to pay now will be balanced out in 6 months time by you paying less for the 6 summer months.

Overall, what OTM is doing with their direct debit strategy won't make any difference to the amount of energy you consume or the total cost you pay in a year. It is the unknown that we need to be wary of. What do they plan to do with their variable tariffs and membership fees over winter? Will they survive the winter? If people desert them, there is less chance of them surviving. It's like a 'run' on the bank - the bank would probably survive if the customers didn't all take their money out at once. OTM will have forked out a lot for energy this winter but if they can't re-sell it to their customers (because they've all switched away) and if they can't get cash in quickly enough to cover their outlay, they will become insolvent and fold.

If they do fold, and you have a credit balance, it is safer to be with them. Leaving and expecting the credit to be repaid is a risk because, if they fold before getting around to paying you, you effectively just become an unsecured creditor. If they fold and you're still a customer with a credit balance, that credit should be honoured by a replacement supplier.

    They don't seem to be budging . . . .

    Dear Mr MadMat

    Following my previous email.

As this is not a change of your Terms and Conditions we will apply exit fees on your account due to us following the same terms and conditions which you have signed up to.

The new revised figures show clear representation of their consumption which falls in line. Therefore the figures we will be using are as follows:
    Winter Direct Debit : £193.84

    Summer Direct Debit: £83.08

However, if you are unable to pay the initial Direct Debits we set up, please do get in contact with us in order to fill out an income expenditure form which will provide us a more suitable Direct Debit amount which will be affordable for yourself.

    best regards

I've really had enough of these jokers, So are there any decent providers who will cover the exit fees? even if the init rate is a little higher it'd be worth it to me to have a flat payment over the 12 months.

I work in a seasonal industry, my income is a lot lower during the winter months than summer, I really don't need this increase being dumped on me with so little notice!

    Mat
