According to the BBC: “Spending on Christmas toys totals £110 per child up to the age of 11, down from £121 a year ago.”

How much do our Money Savers spend on just toys for their kids at Christmas? I know that some years my family have been over that, and some years under.

What are you savvy lot planning on spending this year for each child?

Let us know in the poll. We’ll come back after Christmas with a new poll asking if you managed to stick to this or last minute Christmas Eve gifts were too tempting.

For my grandchildren (now totalling 9) it will be in the region of £15-20 per child. I try to go for the rule of 4 - something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read.

I’ll probably go halves with my daughter on a Nintendo Switch for my grandson, I’ve already bought my grandaughter the lol bigger surprise - pure over priced plastic tat but she wanted it!
I tend to spend more at birthdays than Christmas, there’s only one to buy for and it’s their special day - I got my grandson an iPad, it was his 7th birthday. My grandaughter has asked for one too, she’s only 4, I told her she’ll have to wait till she’s 7.
  • 3 grown up children and 4 grown up grandchildren so no toys. They are all limited to £40 each.
All that clutter used to be money

I guess cumulativelybwtween ex and myself it would be in the £175+ bracket; but each? That would be a lot of presents!

Depends what you're buying. A games console, bicycle, large box of Lego could see you spending all, or a large proportion, of £175.

For my shame I've spent £48 on advent calendars for the 8 year old - Lego and Smiggle. The Lego one this year is mini Christmas ornaments and I've bought a mini, wooden Skandi tree to put them on. That was another £30 :o

I don’t have kids but I’ve spent £25 each on my two nephews and step-niece. (They’re young adults- 16, 18 and 20) but I still like to buy them something nice- they got a Jack Wills toiletry set each with a gift card taped to them- Game for the boys and New Look for my step-niece.
OH’s nephews (13 and 10) will also get £25 each- also in Game vouchers.

That’s what I’m saying. If I bought that all that and she bought comparably it would be too much
