No kids but 3 nieces/nephews (on OH side) and 1 due xmas day (on my side)

As close to £20 for each niece/nephew in gift form (toys or clothes) as possible to get something their parents have said they want/ need so that we don't buy for buyings sake.

My sister is due to have a baby xmas day and instead of giving her a gift I have spent 4 months putting together a baby box. Made the box, seat and filled it with wrapped gifts. About £200 in total but its special and a 1 off.

As nieces/nephews are on the increase I have stopped buying for friends or their kids birthday and xmas as they were also on the increase and costing me a fortune (esp since I rarely see them).

How do people manage spending in mixed families? My DsD gets £150 spent on her with us and with her mum so £300 in total but her sister will only get £150 from her mum (she doesn't see her dad) so that is unfair in my eyes but nothing we can really do about it as partner and ex won’t agree on spending £75 each.
  • I start buying my Christmas presents in August to spread the cost!

I don't have children but I like to spend around £50 per person, I often go over though. I try and weigh it up, I like to get people more little presents rather than a couple of big ones (:
  • My general spend on my nieces and nephews is around £30. They get so much it seems silly to do much more

Nieces and nephews is £5 each, (now adult) children between £30 and £40 each.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

My two are 24 and 22. They will probably get about £150 each in presents and £200 each in cash in their cards.
  • We have six kids between us so Christmas is expensive, usual budget is around £100 per child but we probably go over that a bit. Added to that, three of them have the temerity to have birthdays in the first week of January!

The amounts posted surprise me if im honest.

When i was growing up it wasnt uncommon to get a games console or bike or pc. Most was the PC at about £1000 for a later teens christmas but id be amazed if it was ever less than £300 on each of us (2). And that was at least 12 years ago.

Ive kind of followed suit in spending quite a lot but our little one is still young so been happy to spend around the £100 mark, this year its going to be nearer £150. But i suspect when she gets christmas it will be nearer the £300 mark providing we can afford it. But we include a few bits of what youd call essentials and clothes which is suspect others buy throughout the year but can tb esure.

Nieces and nephews are pretty expensive at £40 each.

True, but when I was a kid I didn't have a mobile phone. We have 5 teenagers, all with mobiles on contract, which isn't cheap!
