I often see many photos from people on my facebook with hordes of birthday / Christmas gifts. It's quite common which makes me think that's why people tend to do it more to try and get "one up" on each other.0

I don't like people doing it - but each to their own. I think that it fuels the "outdoing each other" attitude that a lot of people have at Christmas. I do like seeing pictures of people opening presents though, I think that's different (: but showing off how much they have bought makes me think of the parents who can't afford a lot of presents and how it must make them feel. I also think that children can get too much - surely have fewer presents of things that the child will actually play with/use is better than 90% of presents remaining in their packaging forever?0

It's typical of the 'look at me, look at how wonderful my life is' fakery of a lot of social media.
It's just vulgar and tacky
A stack of presents all over the floor so you can't move, yes, this was us years back because my children had several relatives (4 grandparents, 2 great-grans, aunts, uncles) all buying and buying more than one thing. That would be nothing to do with how 'fakery' my life is but to do with how many relatives bought presents.0 -
I usually video our youngest (he's 3 this year) opening a couple of presents just to keep a record of his reaction and to let his grandma and siblings see it.
He's still at the age where he spends longer playing with the box than the toy!Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
Bigger than their Christmas tree? Most people I know have Christmas trees at min 5ft going up to 6ft. I have never seen any stack of presents that are 5-6 foot high.
Unless it was taken at a certain angle just to make it appear that way, but yes, the tree was completely obscured.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
