If he's being made redundant then personal issues matters first. Alternatively take a "sickie". Everyone is expendable ultimately.

I think the Ops OH is helping with the redundancies

He is safe thank goodness, but the company is going through the process - which means week days away from home as travelling hence ‘sickie’ wouldn’t help.

Thanks for thinking of that but I’m hopeful, that when this solicitors replies (she’s had everything for days and ignores everyone) we can then arrange things and buy in the right help if that’s necessary.

She hung up on my solicitor yesterday and ignored all requests for exchange (given everything is in place).

Anyhow I’m trying to be positive we may still exchange & complete with the timescales that suit us.

Then there's still something holding up the process. That's the bottom line.
  • The solicitior is obviously under instructions not to exchnage- You need to try and find out why.

Most likely they have been instructed to delay things for some reason.

The buyers who she is acting on behalf of have said they are frustrated as they want to exchange ASAP too

  • So still not exchanged as she has been MIA again. Buyers aren't happy. No one is happy. YAY!

Hi all Thanks for comments - none of the companies I spoke to offer this service but I’m going to research some that may. It may be that the distance was a factor (moving 40 miles away) so the local firms here didn’t offer it but in the new place they may - gives me something to focus on!

Have you been looking at 'proper' removals companies, or man-and-van types?

Just wondered as I don't think I've come across a removal company that doesn't offer a packing service.

Agree with others it's the best money you'll spend in the whole process - live in normality till the day or the day before, then they swarm in and can pack a whole house in half a day!

Fingers crossed for your exchange. Are the estate agents on the case too? We exchanged recently and one of the solicitors in the chain went AWOL (only for a few hours and I was tearing my hair out - so I have huge sympathy!). At one point, the solicitors above and below, the person whose solicitor was, and the estate agent, were all phoning/emailing. :rotfl:

Your estate agent should be quizzing your buyer and trying to make sure there's nothing else going on. And if I were that buyer, I'd be visiting the solicitor office or phoning the main number and asking to speak to someone senior, as if it's true that the solicitor just keeps disappearing, that's appalling service. EA should be asking what they're doing to sort out the person they've employed.
