I’ve already researched this but I just can’t get the help I need as I live over 2 hours away from family and most of my
Friends and without knowing when I’ll need help it’s impossible To arrange.
I moved house all on my own when my first husband left me and all our stuff (as he left that too). Can't you hire a 'handy man'0 -

Removals companies deal with this ALL the time so it's not impossible to arrange.0 -

Me too, on my own, a child, two invalid parents, two houses to sell and one to buy and a full-time job. Now on my own looking to move and physically cannot manage the 'manual' bits. No one that can help, so I have engaged (in advance) the services of my neighbour's gardener's son - a strong, fit young man who is only too happy to earn extra cash by lifting, moving, dumping stuff. There is always someone!0 -
There is always someone!
As doozergirl says removals companies will pack and unpack everything.
Now they didn't unpack our bed drawers or our shed, they just lifted the whole thing, so you should certainly deal with any fragile items, but the heavy lifting can all be done.
Carers could be sent in for one day for invalid parents and/or community meal.
It's £15 per hour in my area.
These are really not insurmountable problems.
Even during a redundancy process people can still take a single day off, indeed what happens if they are incapcitated? life goes on.0 -

Hi all Thanks for comments - none of the companies I spoke to offer this service but I’m going to research some that may. It may be that the distance was a factor (moving 40 miles away) so the local firms here didn’t offer it but in the new place they may - gives me something to focus on!
With regards to ‘days off’ yes there are days he is entitled to be off but it’s very difficult when going through this process as he doesn’t know where he will be needed until practically the next day if that makes sense?
I know none of these things sound like a big deal but as I’ve never had to secure these services or do this I hadn’t any idea. But if DH is there he is otherwise I can pay for the help as you say.
I do appreciate these new thoughts and it’s helped me to be more positive thus again; proving how useful mse is!

We moved house last year and all removal firms quoted for packing up (as we asked them to).It is a pretty standard service. It was probably the best £300 we have ever spent, it saved so much hassle. We left the house at 9.30am and by 12.30 everything was packed and on the lorry. We didn't get them to unpack as we needed to get storage built, so there was nowhere for much of the stuff to go - if we ever move again (and we hope we won't) I would get the removal company to unpack too. It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.0 -
Little update - solicitor has had the quotes etc for the last few days and won’t look st them because she’s too busy... blooming heck! So close yet so far!

If he's being made redundant then personal issues matters first. Alternatively take a "sickie". Everyone is expendable ultimately.0
