By the look of these posts, OFTM appear to making up the unit rates as they go along. My e-mail says the new elec price will be 0.1130 and gas 0.0394 from 13th Dec. Reading all this lot makes me start to wonder if the old nice sure, plain and simple EDF were not so bad after all. It's hardly surprising so may people just give up and stay where they are, despite being over charged. Plus the 'Membership' represents a daily (standing) charge of approx 25ppd which makes a difference to quotes when included.

All companies charge different rates depending on the customers location

    Including EDF

I joined mid september, 2 increases in 2 months is pretty frustrating, but they have also just almost doubled my direct debit until march which is really infuriating.

I can live with the price rises as this is still the cheapest supplier for me, but the direct debit rise has really !!!!ed me off, I dont care that they will reduce it after march, ill be getting a new morgage around march and am trying to keep my bills low for the affordability calculations. I also like my monthly bills to be the same every month through the year!

I just joined and paid a month in advance so i will still be in credit till into the january at least, there was no need for this change. their 'review' of my direct debit is flawed and i will now steadily build a large credit, and then maintain it through the cheaper summer.

Why is it that, without fail, every single time i change energy suppliers (after providing them with my exact kwh from the previous year and being quoted a monthly price) within a month or 2 of joining they conduct a "review" of my usage and massivly increase my direct debit?

    !!!!!.

  • What a joke they increase it by £30.00 per month
"This will minimise the possibility of 'bill shock’ at the end of the winter and help spread your extra energy consumption into a manageable amount."

"From 13 December 2018 your electricity unit rate will change from 0.1048p/kWh to 0.1137p/kWh
Your gas unit rate will change from 0.0362p/kWh to 0.0390p/kWh"

We're on the same tariffs and I've had the exact same increase. By my working, OTM is still the cheapest, but only just - they've closed the gap massively on the rest.

Sorry to double post, but now they've just snuck this in to yesterday's email, in which they're apologising for the 70/30 direct debit change!
From 1st January 2019 your electricity unit rate will change from £0.1048/kWh to £0.1279/kWh.

Your gas unit rate will change from £0.0362/kWh to £0.0438/kWh

So they're notifying me of a second increase, before the first one has even taken effect! I've felt like the only one who wasn't bothered by their upcoming direct debit changes, and it's only now that they've wound me up

    @IH8G24,

Given two energy increases in the space of a week I suggest you move supplier given I take it you are on OFTM's Variable pricing with no Exit Fees - the MSE Energy Club Changeover seemed a reasonable deal to me, that is if in your circumstances I'd swap and fix prices for as long as you can if those offered are competitive - just use the Cheap Energy tool again and calculate where you stand. In this observers opinion, I see electricity and gas prices moving in one direction only, which is up and this is particularly so with regards uncertainty about Brexit.

I am on Zapp July 2018 Low User and got the following email:

From 1st January 2019 your electricity unit rate will change from £0.1144/kWh to £0.1339/kWh.

Your gas unit rate will change from £0.0361/kWh to £0.0419/kWh

Your monthly membership fee will be replaced by a daily standing charge of 28p per fuel.

Will be looking to switch next month - hopefully once MSE updates its energy saver club.

I am going to bite the bullet and go with So energy fixed 12 month. Petrol prices are coming down and I think the same with energy soon, despite Brexit.

They quoted me (about two weeks ago):

Electric: day rate: 14.38p per kwh / night rate: 7.35p per kwh (Standing charge: 25.78p)

Gas: 2.668p per kwh (Standing charge: 26.85p per kwh)

It looks like a different plan. They only quoted me one plan ("Seven Heaven").

Wow a standing charge of 26.85p per kWh? So a total of 29.518p per kWh of gas, that must be the most expensive gas tariff ever :rotfl:
