I know what you mean. When I updated from OS9 to OSX it took a few weeks to get used to "a new way of working". In fact I kept two Macs with both systems running for nearly a year! But, as with any improved software, you just have to allocate yourself time to practice (meanwhile not dropping Windows, of course. Use both). I have a Mac Mini (cheap off eBay) and it takes up hardly any room.

Anyway, as there are millions of Mac users, I'll answer the "PDF editing software" question. As you would expect, there's less overall choice than for Windows but what there is is professional and cheap.

Thanks. However if you have been able to make pdf995edit edit existing pdf documents, I'd be interested to know how you did it.

As regards the others, as far as I can see they are not freeware. They may be "free trials" or "free downloads" but that is very different from freeware.
