Warranty rights for kitchen hob

I bought a Cooke & Lewis induction hob from B&Q in April 2017. It has a 2 year warranty on it.
It has slowly developed a worsening problem over the last 6 months. Basically, the front two rings work intermittently. I've tested when the problem rings would stop working, that the pans would still work on another ring. I've also tested them on another hob of a family member.
Due to personal circumstance, I've only just been able to get in touch with B&Q to sort the issue in the last month.
As the hob is over 12 months old, they said I needed Cooke & Lewis to inspect it at my home. An engineer visited last week and said that the problem was the pans we were using. I said didn't think this was correct as like I say, the problems have been intermittent, and have tested elsewhere.
Still, I bought a new pan set which was recommended by the engineer and the small pans still do not work on the hob, which leads me to think it is something to do with the sensors, magnets etc in the hob.
Cooke & Lewis have referred me back to B&Q,
I'm going to return to B&Q this week, but I'd like to find out my rights before I do.
They don't make the same hob anymore, nor one for a similar value, so I can only imagine they will only offer the value of the original hob towards a more expensive replacement, or possibly give the value as a store card.
Neither of which are suitable as like I mention, the only available models are a lot more money, which we don't have.
I have the receipt and proof of purchase.
Can anyone advise on my rights in the situation please?

I can't think of any situation where a full refund wouldnt be considered a fair offer, especially after 18 months. They can offer you much less than a full refund and still be fair.
You are unlikely to get a full refund, and count your lucky stars if you do.
You are highly unlikely to get a more expensive hob after 18 months.0 -
Your claim against B&Q will be via Consumer Rights .
B&Q may well ask you to prove your claim via an enginneers report . Or they may ask the manufacturer for one .
Any refund as said may take into account its age pro rata .0 -
What sort of pans are you using. The best 'induction pans' are fully stainless steel or cast iron and are not coated/painted. Small pans, regardless of construction may have difficulty on some hobs, particularly those at the cheaper end of the market. Pans which have issues are usually 13cm or less, this normally means the milk pan and a wok with small base can have difficulty working. Unless you are buying a better make of hob (and even then) you will still have heating issues with smaller pans.0

Do the new ones work? Are the new ones fully stainless steel, uncoated?
Does a larger pan work on the same 'ring'?0 -
I have found that my small milk pan will not work on the two very large rings but work fine on the smaller rings. You need to put a pan on a ring suitable for the size of the pan.0

Just tested every pan I have. It is definitely the front rings.
Small pans, old and new dont work on front rings.
Small pans work on small back ring.
Medium pans dont work on front rings, but do work on back rings.
B&Q dont stock this model anymore, and there is no model at a similar price. I'm going to push for cash refund as a store card is no use if i have to pay out £400 extra for a new induction hob. Not holding out much hope though.0 -
Are small pans supposed to work on the larger front "rings"? I have a halogen hob not induction, but I always put the small pans on small rings, large pans on large rings. (Medium pans will go on either a medium or small ring). Obviously a small pan would work on a large ring, but it would be pointless and a waste of energy.0
