Those that have pans which work well will have a decent hob make and decent pans. Circuitry within induction hobs is expensive, cheaper brands make the distances further apart meaning small pans cannot operate the 'rings'.
You do understand how induction hobs work, don't you? There are no "rings", it's a zone made up of an induction coil. Any suitable pan coming into contact with the magnetic field made by that coil will react, regardless of whether it's smaller than the zone itself.

As mentioned above, if a refund was offered, it's likely to be reduced to take into account, the use you've already had.
I don't see OP stating they want a FULL refund (although if they do you are correct), they're concerned that any refund might be store credit rather than cash they can take to another retailer (Since B&Q apparently don't sell anything in that price segment any more)

  • Was a bit of back and forth between B&Q and the company that repair Cooke & Lewis appliances, but eventually got B&Q to do a straight swap for the newer model which is a slightly higher price than what I paid.

The offered a swap for this new model, an alternative make for similar price which I would have to make the difference up, or store card/credit towards any other item.
