    Good morning....

ah poor Zeus.....hope all went well.

Sounds like you had a lovely day with your family, SUgarbaby. Fabulous.

Mrs Slapshot..........setting myself my NSD challenge is certainly helping me stick to my budget this month, I have racked up 9 NSDs already. Obviously you are not supposed to compensate in an orgy of spending on the days you do go shopping......:rotfl: good luck with your £20 grocery challenge. I have been very good and have resisted the sales.

I did spend a bit yesterday, petrol, groceries and I popped into a chazzer. I picked up some lovey duck egg blue silky curtains for my dining room patio doors, £2.99. bargain. They were originally from Dunhelm and are as new. Must have saved myself a good £60 there. Also a nice embroidered silky table runner £1.99.

I have decided I am going to concentrate on the landscaping, the heating and insulation this year and put the new kitchen on hold for now. So the plan is a cheap and cheerful revamp and the new curtains will be perfect. Just need to keep an eye out for paint deals. I'm thinking of also painting the kitchen units too, as well as the ceiling beams, walls, doors and skirtings.

Its a large open plan kitchen diner so It's a huge job. I would love to pay for a decorator to do it but it would cost an arm and a leg so I'm just going to knuckle down and do it myself, bit by bit. I can take my time, break it down into easy stages.

If I want luxury on a budget and lots of champagne moments then I have to roll up my sleeves and put in the work......:rotfl:

Champagne moments today - Getting my hair cut this afternoon, smoked salmon for brunch and a nice easy dinner of some bolognese I prepared earlier.....:rotfl:

Have a great day and keep those chamoagne moments coming.....

Am currently having a complete nightmare .Zeus started bleeding out after his op, n it wouldn't stop. They operated on him twice n have said he's got a clotting issue. He's been sedated in the vets overnight n the bleedings stopped, but they're doing more tests on him today:( When he comes home he needs to keep really quiet, so i'm having to kennel Bon, as they're crazy together :( Absolutely gutted :(

    Candygirl,

I am so sorry that Zeus is having such a terrifying experience. :( I am sure that you are hoping for the best outcome for Zeus even though you must be worried to death. I hope it all comes good in the end.

My champagne moment yesterday was finally selling a pair of Van Dal shoes on eBay after multiple free relisting of the shoes. I only made just over £6, but it all adds up in my savings account. :D

My champagne moment today is just having the time to catch up on watching programmes that I recorded in the last week today :D

He's back home, n absolutely hates his cone of shame. He's eaten, but is very disoriented on the painkillers :(

How's Zeus this morning....hope he is ok. Dogs seem to heal quickly so let's hope he's on the mend and soon back to his old naughty irrepressible self. Not too naughty though.:rotfl:

Have had the invoice for the final payment of my Iceland trip. I really can't decide whether to cancel or not. Part of me thinks I will regret it if I do. Part of me thinks, "come on it's only money, the new kitchen can wait :rotfl: Just give it a lick of paint. Who cares about fancy schmancy kitchens or overpaying the mortgage"

See I think I'm talking myself into it.:rotfl:

I do actually have a guiding principle. I ask myself what would my 90 year old self say. Would she be happy with fond memories of a life well lived or would she be a miserable disappointed grumpy old woman who never did anything or achieved anything, Would she say "well done gal you have spent all your money but you've had a ball" or would she say "well done, you've got a healthy bank balance and your kids will have a great inheritance".

I guess I'm greedy and I want both outcomes.

(Actually I have already gifted deposits to my sons to get them on the property ladder and help secure their future, they are more or less sorted. So in that sense they have had their inheritance already, anything else would be a bonus).

Anyway my champagne moments today will be meeting a friend for eats and the cinema.

Butterfly.....well done on the eBay sales.

Mrs Slapshot.....I'm up to 9 NSDs so far. It's definitely helping me reduce my food budget. It's helping me get better organised in the kitchen. I'm still eating well.

I did an Aldi shop the other day. The freezer is well stocked and the cupboards are groaning. All I actually need is milk, fruit and veg so I'm hoping to stay well within budget this month. I am hosting a "vintage tea party" on Sunday so will buy some nice eats for that. I am hopeless at baking so the dainty cakes will probably be courtesy of M&S.:rotfl:

The car is booked in for its service on Monday, fingers crossed.
