Good morning everyone.
Caterina ......how disappointing when you were so looking forward to some nice treats. I'm afraid I can't eat any of that kind of thing anymore , (grain intolerance). I might indulge once in a blue moon but I have to be so careful. So my treat is chocolate.
Today I went to Aldi and they had some boxes of mini Florentines in their reduced section. I can eat those. :rotfl: A long date stamp until the end of February so a couple of those with a good cup of coffee will be my after dinner treat. Perfick. A little champagne moment each evening to keep the January Blues at bay.
Good to hear some of you have slept better. It makes such a difference. I agree Candy even my Fibro pain seems diminished when I'm well rested.
Anyway picked up some nice bits from Aldi, including a half price joint of Aberdeen Angus. Glad to say my freezer and cupboards are all well stocked again in readiness for the Beast From The East Mk 2. Apparently the Met Office reckons it's on its way......I don't mind being snowbound as long as I'm prepared.
Inkie....well done on the decluttering. This is on my to do list for the New Year. I want my house to look luxurious and elegant and I can't achieve that if it's full of "stuff". :rotfl: I could cheerfully set a match to the lot of it but I will do it gradually and hopefully make a few shekels selling what I can.0 -

I've had terrible sleep this week with my husband on nights. I was listening to music until 4.30 this morning.:o:D The birds were singing when I finally got into bed!0
-
My store cupboard has taken a bit of a hit over the holiday, no frozen bread in the freezer, used lots of tins of tomatoes. I must fill the gaps this week so bread, tins of toms, rice and pasta are already on the list.0

I have just updated my budget for December and the amount I spent on Christmas and groceries is a shocker - my resolution for this year must be to manage my budget daily rather than let life get in the way and do it monthly
Nice moment for me yesterday when I helped a family member switch their utilities supplier, saving them £300/year. So satisfying - and they donated a huge bottle of prosecco they received for Christmas as a thank you (they don't drink it).
I have decided to be alcohol-free in January, and I might even start tonight. Really need to look after my body now and alcohol does not help! So the prosecco will have to wait.
Wishing everyone a champagne 2019!! :j0 -
Good morning Everyone
Early morning coffee in bed whilst I think about my day - bliss. The joys of retirement. No having to get up at the crack of dawn, no de-icing the car, no commute to work. And let's face it, the greatest luxury of all - time to just be rather than having "to do".
Mrs Slapshot.....I feel your pain about December spending. Me too. Not that it's much consolation but I shouldn't think we're the only ones. Up and down the land there will be millions of us who have overspent. There must be loads of people who dread the credit card bills in January. Actually my credit card bill isn't too bad. I shall clear that next week. I have done January's budget and although it's tight it could be much worse. I have no debts, other than a small mortgage, I count my blessings.
Anyway what's done is done, onwards and upwards.
I'm not going to worry about money but I am resolved to do better next year and s t r e e e t c h those pennies. I want to budget well so that I can both save and still have enough for some champagne moments and some luxury living, to be able to indulge in a few fripperies now and again.
As my husband used to say "we all need some fripperies in our lives":rotfl:
I have joined the make £2019 in 2019 thread. Although my modest income is enough it would be nice to try and find ways of increasing it. Another £2k would be a big help. You can buy a lot of fripperies with £2k..
Not sure quite how I'm going to do it yet but I'll give it a go.
Anyway tonight it's time to party. My toe nails are painted Chinese red :rotfl: and I shall give myself a facial and a manicure. I shall don a party frock and I will raise a glass or three to absent friends as I welcome the new year and all its challenges.
Let the Champagne Lifestyle begin. :rotfl:
Happy New Year everyone. _party_:dance:0 -
I've just checked my budget, prompted by credit card bill, and I reckon I've overspent by about £400 and my tenant hasn't paid her rent. Hopefully she will pay next week and I will pay the credit card and then at the end of January I have to pay my dues to the tax man. Roll on February!0

Hello all. I stumbled across this thread whilst looking for something else and it attracted my attention because I used to have a debt free diary called Champagne Lifestyle Lemonade Budget many years ago
I absolutely love the idea of this thread. Far too often everyone is trying to deny themselves life's pleasures and life is just too short to suffer unnecessarily. I've subscribed and look forward to following.
I'm 58 and have 8 years before I can retire and fully intend to enjoy a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget for the foreseeable future.
Happy New Year to allI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Afternoon all
Am just getting ready to go shopping for a few NYE treats, as will be staying in with the firework phobic pooches .I don't mind really, as have never really been a fan of all the hype at new year
I need to get some rescue remedy for the pooches, bless them If only they understood what fireworks were
I'm not making any NY resolutions, this year has been very tough for me, with lots of family probs, that have almost brought me down.In 2019 I will be resetting my boundaries, n starting to finally look after myself. Something I'm not particularly good at , but putting myself last hasn't made anyone happy :rotfl:
I'm with you on the painted toenails 'LL!Mine are currently bright purple
Happy New Year everyone xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
