I have used plastic bags as trash bags for years. We do recycle veg peelings etc they go in the bucket outside the back door and into the compost bin once the bucket is full. I am amazed we have a large carrier bag hanging in the kitchen for plastic and glass that can be recycled, we have to empty it at least twice a week. I can remember going to the butcher and the fish monger and getting meat and fish wrapped in paper. Once home it was unwrapped and put on a plate with a cover over it in the pantry. We also had a meat safe in the wall for meat, there was a grill on the outside of the wall that let air in to keep the meat fresh. Mind you I must admit my grandmother shopped for meat etc every day, so it was not 'in store' for long. I was married in 1961 and did not have a fridge for the first 10 years we were married.
My grandmother loved gorgonzola cheese, she used to buy it at Christmas, the smell on the bus coming home from the market was something else!!0 -

Ocado take back carrier bags (up to 99) from any of the supermarkets for recycling and give you 5p off your delivery for each one
I only have a very occasional delivery (when they’ve sent me a tempting enough discount code and free delivery offer), but I save any bags I have to give to the driver then.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Ooh I love this thread and can so relate to the many posters on here. I'm retired, single and on a limited budget but also like to socialise, go on holiday and indulge in the good things in life too, so looking forward to being part of this0

Hi, I've really enjoyed reading through this lovely post and I'd love to join too if I can, you've all inspired me to start to change the things that I've been meaning to for far too long. I've given some thought over the last couple of days to what's a champagne moment to me and while having the annual post Christmas sort through and putting away of our presents, I've come to realise just how many lovely things I've been keeping for best. No more, I'm going to use and enjoy, now is best after all. I'm also planning on starting the always meant to but never yet done Happiness jar. I'm going to open it in a years time (new years eve really) to remember all of mine and my DH Champagne moments (hopefully achieved on a lemonade budget)0

Hi Ellie Shoogly and hopeful. I'm shattered looked after poorly GD again last night. Parents enjoying a lie in, they are heading home later so I'm keeping her occupied for now. I'd forgotten how hard it is to give a wriggly 18 month old their medication! I'm afraid bribery and chocolate came into the transaction. All the little ones will be gone today, teenagers left for a few days so we are winding down and I might just make it to New Year but then I do need a week in bed.0

Hello Everyone. Hope you are all well and enjoying the festive frolics and fun.
My Christmasses tend to be quieter and gentler these days now that my husband and parents have passed but I truly don't mind. In a funny bittersweet way I enjoy the quietness, it gives me time to rest, reflect and reminisce. I am using "Twixmus" to recharge my batteries and re-energise.:D
I am currently sitting here with a face mask on as I write. Multi-tasking at its best. Got to work on my skin if I want to maintain a healthy youthful glow. :rotfl:
I have just weighed myself and taken my blood sugar levels. All is well so my restraint has paid dividends. However, I do want to lose some more weight and I would like to reduce my blood sugar levels a bit more so it's back on the Intermittent fasting and mega healthy eating.
I need to do some food shopping today so I will make sure I buy lots of delicious healthy ingredients to kickstart my regime of eating for optimum health and vitality.
I won't be able to enjoy a champagne lifestyle if I waste money on poor food choices. :rotfl:
Have a great day.0 -
I think I'm gonna try the 5:2 diet again in the New Year
Need to lose quite a bit to ease the strain on my joints, n get more mobile .Mum has got a private physio/ trainer that comes to her house, n she said I can have a trial with her, so that'll be good too:D
HDF I did a happiness jar with my DGD last year, n it really helped with her anxiety"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Hi. Just a quickie to give you a heads up..........Sainsbury's have their 50% off homewares. Some great bargains.
, I bought a lovely plain white Egyptian cotton duvet cover set, trimmed with lace, I only ever buy white and only ever in the sale.
For anyone needing to buy cookware They also had their Le Crueset lookielike cookware at half price. Burnt orange or cream. Also some nice saucepans, bakeware etc. I didn't buy any cookware because I don't really need anything this time round.
I stocked up on some yellow sticker goodies for the freezer and I used my £4.50 off voucher to treat myself to a nice big scented candle.
Still got plenty of candles actually.......but seriously, a girl can never have too many candles....:rotfl:
Champagne moment for the day.......noticed an old orchid plant is full of buds and looks like it is going to flower again.
Time for lunch and a rest, my knee is giving me gyp again.0
