On the 26th March 2020 I was allowed to return home from KIng's Colle Hospital after I was fortunate enough to survive having the corona virus. The biggest and best champagne moment for me.
I found a copy of Jamie's Dinners by Jamie Oliver in my local Poundland today. The recommended retail price of this hardback recipe book is £30, so It was a real champagne moment for me spotting the only copy in the store.

Two fantastic champagne moments there SUgarbaby, especially being home again after being so ill. And how nice to know you are now virus free and immune, able to go shopping without worrying about your safety or that you might be a threat to others. What a relief that must be.
Did the hospital say how long your immunity might last.9 -

Ah right, thanks for that Sugarbaby. .....pretty much as I thought. This virus is such an unknown quantity isn't it. Sadly there was an ambulance outside my next door neighbour but one's house this morning . She is a nurse and he suffers from quite severe asthma. Worrying times. My son has been given extra meds for his asthma to ensure he has enough. Just keeping my fingers crossed. Thankfully both he and DIL can work from home. We just have to hope for the best.I am back on the Marie Kondo......😂
Today the sun is shining and it's significantly warmer. I am going to wash some summer clothes. I had a brief sort out, there are only couple of items I want to get rid of. I had a big purge after I had lost weight last year. Tomorrow is set to be even warmer still so I will wash my heavy winter knitwear ready to put it away for the summer. I'm cleaning the inside of my wardrobe as I go but again I did it only a few months ago so it's not that bad really. One lovely champagne moment last night. At around midnight I decided to have a look at the sky because I had noticed a single bright light. I thought it was a plane hovering but was confused because I understood that all non essential flights had been grounded. Well - I stepped outside and it was the most beautiful night. Silence, just the sounds of nature. The air smelt so fresh and clean. That bright light was the Pole Star. I have never seen it shine so brightly. Just goes to show how much the air pollution has cleared since we started lockdown. And again this morning....I know the sun is shining and everywhere looks much nicer in bright sunlight but the air is so clean and everything looks so bright and well "shiny". 😂. The light quality is amazing.I Had a quick google and everywhere round the globe you can see the levels of air pollution have dropped significantly. As dreadful as this pandemic is, every cloud has a silver lining. Hopefully we can learn from this. Perhaps we can take heed and remember that we need the Earth more than it needs us. Hopefully as we gear up again when this is over we can do so with a bit more care and consideration for our planet and all its inhabitants. Clean air is just so nice. 😁11 -
It was so lovely to get out for a walk in the fresh air and the sun today. Such a simple pleasure after being inside for 10 days straight. I might get up early and go for a longer walk tomorrow as many people may sleep in on a Sunday.
I am noticing that simple things do seem more pleasurable after being indoors so much. I had a long, hot shower yesterday and it felt so good! I had body oil, scented shower gel and then body butter to put on afterwards as well as deep conditioning my hair. I felt very pampered!
I'm making a tray of roasted veggies for lunch today. I am going to read my book and then watch a film with my husband tonight. He is still in bed now!6 -
Good morning my lovely friends. How are we all...I hope you are all still finding lots of lovely little nice champagne moments this week.Odd as it sounds I'm enjoying this time.....to just slow things down a little and like Wednesday, I am getting to really appreciate life's simple pleasures. This week, I have had some lovely quiet gentle champagne moments. I have enjoyed the wonderful clean fresh air, the warm sunshine. I have indulged in some chocolate, and have been busy trying new meals and receipes, getting inspiration from Jamie Oliver's tv programmes. I am reading, have watched some interesting documentaries, and I have chilled with some good films and some nice nibbles.
i managed to go shopping and stock up with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables so I can continue to tAsty nutritious food. Whilst out I treated myself to some deep red roses., I have some in my sitting room and some by my bed.I have been busy......have caught up with my paperwork, sorted out my photos and made a start on decluttering the wardrobes. On fine days I'm out in the garden. Today I'm going to take some lavender cuttings from a rather straggly bush. Hopefully I can get enough plants to make a lavender hedge.
OK so i can't gad about and my social may not be that great but I'm happy and content. And as a by product of living so quietly my bank balance is growing nicely......😂Keep calm, keep safe, stay well and keep up with the champagne moments.8 -
Hello all - it is quiet on here isn't it? I know I haven't been on much, quite honestly I don't know where the time has gone. I am still working (at home, but working nonetheless), and so I don't seem to have quite as much time on my hands as people who are self isolating, or not working. I've been trying to do more exercise, I've cooked more, and of course there is the daily government briefing, so I think those things have taken my time. My son has also been through a very messy 'final' breakup with his girlfriend (who's supposedly been an ex since December, but hey ho), which has been emotionally draining for both of us due to some things that have happened. Hopefully that is it now, and he can finally move on. I am thankful to still be paid, although I am not as busy as I would normally be due to business slowing down so much due to the pandemic. I may apply for furlough leave in the next couple of days, will have a chat with my manager tomorrow.
It's a very strange time for everyone, and I am trying to see any positives in the situation, as many of you are. One thing I noticed tonight on my evening walk was how many birds I saw. I am sure they are getting more adventurous, due to the roads being quieter and not so many people around. I took some lovely photos of plants, trees and bushes, it really was a glorious Spring evening.
Lovely to have Sugarbaby back - what an ordeal you must have been through.6 -
We live next to 4 airports (commercial, army, cargo, police heli), and I am sooo enjoying the quiet, the birdsong, the clear air. I knew there was noise from the airports, but it's more a hum in the background, and now there is no hum; lovely!Every day I do a bit of work in the garden, and it's shaping up nicely.I am enjoying the fact that dds have no obligations, no dance, no martial arts, no drawing. No taxi-mum, and a time to actually play, to shape their own time.Husband and I are still working fulltime, from home, and that's going well. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.599

Today's "champagne moments"?? 😉Sluicing out my dustbins and cleaning the outside drains......Oh the glamour of it all.,😂🤣

Fabulous, sunny and warm weather here which is a champagne moment in itself considering how often it's wet!
I've been making the most of it by getting as much weeding done ahead of the weekend when hopefully DH will be able to assist me by doing the harder stuffHowever, the inroads I'm making are minute considering the overall extent of what requires doing! Still, baby steps.....
Yesterday I planted approaching forty alliums in front of the espaliered apple trees and baked a raspberry and apple crumble cake. DH ventured into Tesco on his way home (queues weren't too bad, apparently) and bought the Easter weekend shopping which included a few treats so we'll have some champagne moments even though it'll be just the two of us instead of the trip to the south coast to visit DS and his family........
He also cooked a rather good pesto/ ravioli supper which we ate before binge-watching more of The Walking Dead - another couple of champagne moments!
Today a parcel containing more plants I'd ordered arrived and best of all, DS got in touch to say the parcel we sent them containing loads of treats and Easter goodies has arrived safely
Hope everyone is managing to stay safe and virus-free......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
