Totally unrelated vauxhall fault, but on a Vectra 2.0 petrol, a MAF code was solved by cleaning the EGR.0

Would glow plugs stop the car from starting or would it just be hard to start as mines not starting at all sounds like it wants to start but doesnt. Iv flattened the battery now trying so will charge battery up tomorrow0

Can I ask what you are using the read the codes? is it a generic code reader or a vauxhall specific one? if its a generic one then you might not be getting back all the logged DTCs. you need to be using something along the lines of op-com to check all the different parts of the system.0

Its just a small hand held one i have. I dont have opcom or tech2 access0

Some engines are more tolerant than others, but non-functioning glow plugs can easily cause the symptoms you describe. The weather is colder, so the glow plugs have more work to do at a time when the battery is giving less due to the temperature.Would glow plugs stop the car from starting or would it just be hard to startIf someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Failing glow plugs has a pattern to it, the engine on cold start goes from normal to prolonged to this is stupidily long, to no cold start. If this is the pattern you have then could be glow plugs, 1yr from the last time the fuel filter was changed will not degrade to the point that its come appart or clogged to the point its shut off the fuel lines unless your trying to run partially filtered vegitable oil, actually its not even due a change if it was done 1 yr ago paper element filter or canister type 2yrs or 20k-40k miles. People change them every year with air and oil filters its personally a choice but not needed.Would glow plugs stop the car from starting or would it just be hard to start as mines not starting at all sounds like it wants to start but doesnt.
