Why do people still keep using valet parking companies.........every month we hear the same stories car keys stolen/lost,car parked in field/ind estate and car damaged/vandalised
Either use official airport car park, get a taxi, train or get a lift

Cost and convenience probably. Particularly if they live out in the sticks.

Taxis and official parking are expensive. Trains are not too bad if booked in advance. Unfortunately, the rail timetable doesn't always suit late or early flight times. There is also the problem of getting to and from the station.

Lifts? Not everybody has family close by or friends and neighbours who are willing/able to get up at three, for example, to get you to the airport by five and still be in a fit state do a days work afterwards.
  • Niall, you need to contact Thames Valley Police ASAP.. Theyll give you your own crime ref number.
  • Just messaged you Steph

Agree. I wouldn't use them. If you do it for cost and/or convenience, it's a risk you take.

I recall a similar issue at Gatwick two years ago.

The cheap valet parking was a muddy field on the outskirts of Crawley.

The valet company had a caravan on site in the field where the drivers assembled, picked up keys etc. The caravan was broken into one night and the car keys, which had been left in a plastic box, where taken and thrown around the field. Luckily no cars stolen but the valet company did not find all the keys and those they did they had trouble matching up to cars left in their care.

    Buy cheap..get cheap.

Hope the OP gets things sorted out though.

I assume that the valet parking area where the offence occurred was out towards Slough and therefore in the Thames Valley police area? Heathrow is within the Mets area as stated above.
  • I trust that you only left your car keys with the valet company, and not a full set of keys including your house.

    Has it been sorted
  • They are complete sharks - I had exactly the same thing in early November. However, after speaking at length to a person called 'Nav' they promised not only to pay for a new key, but also to pay for my taxi to get home and back up to the airport. £400 later (key+Uber) and they have disappeared - website no longer appears and telephone numbers don't work. It seemed like a good deal at the time - but as with all things of this nature... if it looks too good to be true then it probably is.
