Hi all,
Long time reader of the forum but never had to post. I received a parking charge in July this year from Link Parking Ltd, they have since instructed Gladstones Solicitors who've sent me a Letter Before Claim 2 days ago.
I've been reading various threads on this forum & will start to put a response together, but I will need some help to finalise it I think! One of the main challenges I will be making (correct me if this is a bad idea) is that the signage in this car park is particularly bad. It is not illuminated so can't be seen at night which is when the car was parked, it is very high off the ground and partially obscured by bushes. Does anyone have any examples of how I could word this in my initial response to Gladstones? The 'contractual' part of the sign cannot be read due to being obscured.
I'm happy to go to court and defend myself, even with the risk of losing. I despise these parking charge companies and the cartel they run.

For how much are they asking?
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It has even been suggested that some of these companies have links with organised crime.
Watch the video of the Second Reading and committee stage in the House of Commons recently. MPs have a very low opinion of this industry.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by in the not too distant future..You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Everyone is politely asked to read up on this in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum before starting a new thread
Go there now to learn about the game you are now caught up in
#2 there covers Court claims right through from the lbcca to the hearing
Don't fret too much over responding to your lbcca
A simple denial of the debt will do
But start researching your defence.
That post gives detailed advice and links to other resources for preparing your defence0 -
and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by in the not too distant future..
This is wildly unrealistic
OP, don't miss any deadlines for dealing with this claim thinking that the PPC will be put out of business by the government so no need for you to defend!0 -
Thanks guys. Don't worry, I won't miss the deadlines. I will start to draft my response tonight. They are asking for £160.
Does anyone have comments on my original points RE the signage? Also any guess how long they will take to issue the court claim?0 -

Nonsense. You are in danger of losing what little credibility you have left. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

As said many times on here, Gladstones are trying to extort money from you with the £60 FAKE ADD-ON
THE £60 SCAM OPERATED BY DRP ?

Suggestions to newbies that s letter of complaint to their MP is likely to mean the PPC gets closed down by the government in the "not too distant future" is truly incredible
Only last week you suggested these complaints could get the ppcs closed down by Christmas!0 -

Give this a break please, this petty banter does not bode well with newbies .... get positive for once0 -
Not banter!
It's a concern that newbies take the suggestion that a complaint to their MP will result in the PPC getting shut down by the government by Christmas/early in the new year/not too distant future depending which version they read that is the worry!0 -
I agree beamish, the man is a pain.
The phase "the near future" has different connotations for different people. I take it to mean in the next 1 - 2 years. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
