You're overlooking the fact that you wouldn't have been able to load the freezer straight away anyway (if you followed the manufacturer guidelines), so ordering freezer food to arrive then same day was unwise.
As I said previously, I ordered the food to arrive between 9-11pm. Even if the freezer arrived at 6pm, that's 3 hours for it to stand. (the sticker still on my freezer says 3 hours, online, it suggests between 30 mins and 4 hours).
Again, why do you think it's so important that I know I'm 'unwise' as apposed to the major company inconveniencing thousands by saying they're delivering when they're not?0 -
for which I am grateful, but it's still upsetting it's probably gone to waste!.
I'll go against the consensus and say that if I had a general food delivery coming the same day as a freezer, I'd have ordered the frozen food too. The difference being I'd have done it with the full intention of rejecting the frozen stuff in the event the freezer wasn't ready for use by the time the food arrived.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). That I'm silly for expecting a delivery to arrive on time? Yes, I got that, the first time it was said. No need for you and others to keep repeating it.
You see now you're just twisting words. I said you were silly in placing an order for frozen food without having a freezer and not that you were silly in expecting your order to arrive on time. I'll let you have the last word as I'm not going to waste any more time with someone who is living under a rock and now has to make things up to win an argument. Childish in the extreme. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
It won't have gone to waste. It was on a refrigerated van the whole time, no different to if it was sat in their warehouse or in the freezers on the shop floor. Since you refused delivery its still unsold, they can just put it back on the shelf.

It's great to hear it hasn't gone to waste! I even made sure I stuffed as much of the 'high end' frozen stuff in my tiny ice-box freezer as possible and just refused the chips/veg/etc as the thought of all of it going to waste just pained me, even if the supermarket would absorb the cost.0 -

So - I should have expected my freezer to arrive on time, but not order any food to go in it?! I'm confused here.
Thanks for getting bored of saying 'you're so silly' though. I'd prefer to live 'under a rock' than 'under a bridge'. Picking arguments for the sake of it is serious troll-like behavior.0 -
I did think of starting a new 'vent' thread for this but as it was inspired by the OP I'll add it here....
Why do people like the OP continue to buy stuff online and get it sent to their home adresses when they know they are unlikely to be in to recieve it ?
Delivery drivers' hearts must sink when they see they have yet another parcel for an address where they know there will likely be no-one in to receive it and they are then caught between a rock and a hard place
Do they play by the book and return it to the depot, incurring the wrath of the OP ?
Or do they try to hide it somewhere, leaving it at risk of it getting stolen, damaged by rain, or removed with the rubbish as others on this board have compained of ?
Or do they appeal to the good nature of a long suffering neighbour to yet again take in someone elses parcel ?
Many online shops now give the option of getting delivery on a particular day or of 'click and collect'. If you know you are going to be out at work all day then for goodness sake, if you want to order online, please order from shops that offer these options rather than eventually increasing delivery costs for us all by going with an option that you know is going to be problematic for the delivery company to actually carry out.0 -
I much prefer RM deliveries.
If you're not in you can get it delivered on whichever day is convenient. And you know reasonably accurately what time of day it will arrive.
Compare and contrast with (particularly) Amazon Logistics, which is an absolute nightmare, with a deliver window that has been getting wider and wider, and where the actual delivery time is completely inconsistent from day to day.0
