I think this comes down to personalities.
It sounds like it's not the extra 2 nights you object to (which I agree with others seems harsh when taken in context of weeks when she's there less than 3 nights). It's the way she responded to you you don't like.
And if there's a clash of personalities, then a lodger is not going to fit in to your home.0 -

Unless you were planning to let the room out to someone else on her 'vacant' nights, then the cost to you of her staying 3 nights a week rather than 5 are identical. So I'm at a loss as to why you reduced the rent so steeply in the first place? I can't imagine any lodger being comfortable with her comings and goings being monitored on a nightly basis either.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Did she pay you for the weeks she didn't use the room? I presume so.
If so I think it's a huge over reaction on your part and you have lost a "very nice lady".Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

The lodger finally 'broke free' of you for the better, your loss I'm afraid.
As other have said, perhaps lodging is not for you. Good luck with finding another good one

Life is give and take.
I have employees who tell me they need to start late/finish early/work from home/take time off/urgent holiday/long lunch etc etc.
99% of the time I will just agree to it because I know if I need them to work late/through lunch/come in early/travel to the other end of the country etc they will do it.
I think you have massively over reacted. They probably did expect you to allow it on the basis that they have more than stuck to their end of the bargain for a few months by being there 3 days a week or less and all of a sudden then want 1 week of 5 days. If it was 5 days this week and then 5 days one week next month and then 5 days one week the month after, I would probably say we need to review the rent.
Obviously it is your house, your rules. Totally fail to understand why you would react in that way.
How would you have reacted if she asked for a refund for the nights she didn't use it? You'd have been rightly annoyed.
Maybe she should have given you more notice, maybe she only just found out, and thought that it would not be a problem, especially given the fact she had been overpaying based on the use she was taking?
I would have agreed to it, but asked for more notice if this was to ever happen in the future, and made sure that the rolling one month usage was never over the agreed number of nights.
The grass is not always greener on the other side.0
