The more important part is was it listed on the offical form saying what was with the house.
Though given what it was it would be ridiculous to say it was not normal and looks worse with the amount they are saying is cost (did they even take pictures of these full skips? (Were they those toy sized skips you can get?))0 -
I had totally forgotten about that brilliant response from P.Eye !0

She was moving as her husband died a few months before, and I think he assumes she is vunerable and will pay up ! There were 7 medium sized boxes in total in the attic and he says it took 3 men 2 days (48 hours in total) to remove said 7 boxes. There are some horrible people out there:(
I hope this had been agreed beforehand.
If I was the buyer and it hadnt been agreed beforehand I certainly would not see the vendor leaving an unwanted very heavy washer/dryer, no matter what the original cost, as a goodwill gesture.0 -
Bit tongue in cheek but...
Presumably the purchaser has already disposed of the "rubbish". In which case, their argument that it's not their stuff confirms them an involuntary bailee - so I hope they offered a suitable opportunity to collect the stuff first, otherwise they might in fact be liable for the value of the goods disposed?Peter

Instead of the toy cheque, write a letter saying that you would like to collect the items next weekend and will, of course, make a modest £30 contribution towards the storage fee at that time.
However if they have been disposed of, without prior warning, you will be claiming their full value of.... £1600?0 -
Blimey, when we get a buyer for our house, I was going to leave some tiny tester-size pots of paint for touching up dings. Now I'm worried I'll get a bill for a skip to remove them.
Meh, I suppose it beats working for a living.Selling up and moving to the seasaw. Mortgage-free by 20200 -
There is a form where everything included in the sale should be noted.
Nothing else should be left.
Why is that hard?0
