Good Morning, Oldstylers :hello: - a bit damp looking out there this morning, but forecast seems to be for it to improve slightly as the day goes on. Up to 12C with light cloud and gentle breeze - in the words of Bobby Ball, 'that'll do fer me, Tommy!'
bellabella - thanks for starting us off today. Shame that the 'exhibit' wasn't a bit more self-explanatory and it would have been helpful to have the words to the poem - even if they were only on printed handouts to take away with you. Hope your son has a successful 'first day at work'
.
camelot1001 - hmm  - messy house sounds like a very successful visit from DGKs :rotfl:. I'm still 'in a tip' from having 'The Bobster' here overnight (Fri/Sat) and his brother - 'Bouncing Billy' - for an hour on Saturday. Didn't have the time, or inclination, to do anything due to going out yesterday- 'tomorrow IS another day'
. Your Sunday Lunch sounds absolutely  - well done you on catering for 'meaters' and 'vegans' all in one go :T!
nmlc - best of luck with your new work situation. The job sounds ' rather dubious' but getting your own office has to be a huge plus :j!
tru - lol at Scamp. Maybe, once he could actually SEE what was causing the noises etc, he felt better about them. Hearing them, but not knowing where they were coming from, could have been the problem - who knows with dogs
! Hope your paperwork is straightforward
.
redruby - enjoy your week AND your girly trip away with your DD :j!
Nelski - good luck with your accounts and enjoy your chilli - it sounds . Thanks for the update on Holly - and I also hope that she stays in hospital for another couple of weeks. I quite 'get' that she's beginning to feel a bit trapped but until her meds kick in, she really does need their 'full-time support'. Please add my name to her OS Birthday Card.
silver-oldie - well done on decluttering your linen cupboard. I keep asking my son for some shelves to go into my old 'water tank cupboard' - I'd love to turn it into a proper Linen Cupboard :j!
Hester - I was wondering how your CHS was getting on, so it's good to see a post from you.
Thinking about all who are unwell and those in need of some ((((HUGS)))) and L:heart2:VE.
Plans for today include my shift in the Charity Shop this afternoon and a visit to church early evening to catch up with a DBS Form for a new Volunteer with the Children's Club. I inherited the job when our last Minister moved on to a different church.
Then it'll be home to a bowl of 'Split Pea & Ham Soup with Crusty Bread' for OH and me .
Enjoy your day, everybody - take care - luv Ollie xx0 -
Morning all. Had a fire last night/yesterday afternoon, by eight o' clock I was roasting, and the whole house was roasting and I was going out the back to cool down...Note to self, only put it on when it's brass monkeys next time..
The hocks were really really tasty, i encouraged the skin to crisp a little bit more with a blow torch, definitely worked.Couldn't eat all mine, so that's what tonights tea is along with LO mustard mash, and OH will have the fajita mix I made. WIll make a pea soup I think with the boiling liquor and use up the bacon in the fridge. Look at me cooking all over the place....you can tell I can taste more...
Tidy up today, little attempts anyway, still feeling feeble and totally unmotivated...
nmlc, congratulations on your 'promotion'?bella, the tower sounds interesting, hisotry meets performance art type thing...tru, best result really, even if it doesn't make conventional wisdom sense. SO, a tidy linen cupboar is the sign of a tidy mind [ well, I don't know if it is but it sounds like it should be
] Hester, Glad CHS is better, how are you doiing? Morning Poppy, hope you're better after the anitbiotics. Good to see Holly is better. Ollie, enjoy your shift, and redruby, enjoy your short week..
Hugs and stuff for them that needs, sandman punches also given freely, hope Monday is a good day for you all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
A flying visit to say my friend's stay is going well. In between the trips out we've managed to get her laundry done, so she's heading off today rested, fed and with clean undies
I hope to have a swim this afternoon, nothing else planned as being a host is lovely but tiring! (out of practice)
Nelski please pass on my birthday and get well soon wishes to Holly.
Glad to read that your CHS is steadily making progress, Hester. It's a good thing you're retired and able to look after him. I hope that you're being given leeway on the boat staying put in view of CHS's current health challenges.
All the best to everyone for a good start to the week. xxx0 -
Just popping back on to say that I can't believe I've been waiting for the washing machine to 'kick into action' for 15mins. Went to see what was happening and got into  mode ................. noooooooooo - PLEASE don't let it be broken
- then spotted that the switch on the wall was turned OFF.
Of course, 'The Bobster' was messing with the machine on Saturday morning and I turned it off 'at the wall', so he couldn't actually start a programme going !0 -
Good morning everyone.
Mild and wet here too. The heavy rain on Friday / Saturday brought a threat of The Rest being closed again. Geo-technicians clambered up to investigate, said everything was stable but stayed on site all weekend.
I'm staying indoors again, the coughing has got worse, intermittent but long bouts which wrack me. Last night I dosed up with night nurse which gave me a few hours of sleep, I'm propped up like a doll. :rotfl:
Nelski - thanks for the Holly update. I really hope she manages to see it all through. Please add my name and love to her card.
I'm going to make a flask of tea and bring it back up to bed.
Happ Monday to everyone.0 -

Good morning everyone,
I hope you all had a nice weekend.
My Saturday was lazy and deliberately so given that I won't have another lazy day for weeks. Yesterday in contrast was busy, as I left Glasgow at 8am to make for Manchester to see my new flat. Got there in plenty of time, took measurements, spoke with the landlord and soon my friend and I left to go and watch the Wigan vs Leeds match. Drove home afterwards and was in for circa 7pm and shattered.
I've a busy week ahead, what with it being my last in Scotland. Friday is my last day at work which will turn into my leaving drinks at a pub in the city centre. No time for a hangover as I'm up for an early brunch with cousins (which I thought was last weekend!) followed by a night out with all my mates. Then need to drive down to Manchester on the Sunday to my hotel which I'm staying in for the first week.
For today, I've a busy one in work and I'm playing football back to back again tonight. And damn, I just realised I forgot to defrost some dinner!
taff - Take it easy and don't try and do too much, too soon.
Ollie - That's a relief! I bet you thought you were going mad too haha!0 -
Good morning all, grey and damp looking here. We had a lovely lunch and catch up with BIL yesterday, and although it was a cross country route roads were quiet and the Autumn colours, even in the rain, were wonderful.
Really tired this morning, late to bed, OH kept dropping off to sleep in his chair while I was doing my meds infusion (he is my technician and draws up the syringes and wields the sticky tape:rotfl:) I didn't want to keep waking him so didn't finish 'til 11:30:eek:
Another busy week ahead, I would like to escape to a hotel room with room service, plenty of books and something to play some music on and ignore the world for a week, well a girl can dream:rotfl:
I hope that Holly will stay until the medication kicks in, gentle hugs to Polly, taff, TA, Csarina, Hester (to pass on to CHS) and all that are worried or feeling below par. Bella thank you for the new thread, enjoy your nap later if you get the chance. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning ((((((((((Hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
I could do with one myself. Up and showered, feel like nothing on earth, so am going to take it steady today, not sure if its the medication, it has never done this before....hey ho
OH managed to put the coffee in the filter itself and not in the mesh basket, so have had to clean it out, its a good job you can take it to bits, he is getting worse, yesterday he made lemon tea, hot water and lemon, no tea!!
Laundry on, dark load, doubt if it will dry outside, the leccy bill will be shooting up....
Nelski, please put me on the card to Holly, I can understand her wanting to get home, but really she should stay at least until she is settled back on her medication. She can make a complaint about the nurse who is upsetting her, thats her right.
Cold lamb tonight, may do jacket spuds and a side salad with it. I need to cut it off the bone.
I need to get my act together and finish off the sewing. I found an easy way to make unlined bags yesterday, I have a couple of lengths of fabric I could use. so once I have done two more small wall hangings I will cut out a couple of bags, should be able to do them in an hour once they are cut out.0 -
Good morning, just quickly popping in.
Seems mild and fine here, hope it continues.
Yesterday was a quietish day. this morning I'm visiting a friend, then going on to book group.
Nelski, will you pass on happy birthday wishes to Holly for me.
Gers, sorry you're still not well.
Take care folks0
