OS Daily Monday 5th November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning all :D
I hope those who were struggling to sleep managed to get a better night
Yesterday we went to the tower it was nice but all a bit odd and i struggled with the relevance we were told that you had to make your own interpretation, the torches and smoke was awesome to see and there was a poem that had been written by a WW1 nurse that had been interpreted into music with the words but they were not printed anywhere for us to read there were people walking about with scarves round their faces and small speakers strapped to them all a bit odd. It was nice to see DD2 and her boyfriend. DS has gone to work first day at his new job so a bit of clatering about getting his bike out this morning and once i am awake i am awake so maybe a nap later
I desperately need to go shopping as i haven't been for 2 weeks except locally for a few fresh bits so sausage n mash for tea . Dolly will be walked as soon as its light but she has been out in the garden .
Right better get on as the DW has just finished and as its supposed to be mild today i will put on DS holiday washing
Have a great day whatever you are up to hugs to all those with worries or who are unwell xx

    Morning All

After a lovely day yesterday it's raining here this morning but quite mild at least.

I've had a great weekend with DS1 and the DGC, the house is nearly back to normal! They are certainly entertaining but make an incredible amount of mess. DD and BF came for their lunch too so it was a busy house. I made a full roast chicken dinner with a layered vegetable pie for the vegans, enjoyed by all and I have some left over veg for dinner tonight.

I hope you've all had a good weekend, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

bellabella - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now getting light, dry underfoot and quite mild, load in WM - if it's done before I leave for work I'll get in pegged on the line.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, I'll wake him shortly as he'll be going for a run as he needs to stay in today as we're having windows cleaned and guttering cleared out as it's full of moss - every time it rains really hard the water is just overflowing the guttering - at least getting it done now should be ok for the winter.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, HG sprouting broc, swede (me only), peas, yorkshires and gravy - meat was really delicious, very little LO's. Tonight we'll be having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Yesterday was a quiet day, we just went to the big sports store to get DH a new pair of work boots, as his had split. We've bought expensive boots or cheaper one's, and they only seem to last the same amount of time, so we've found some that he finds comfortable so he generally needs a couple of pairs a year. We watched some catchup tv, and the Remembrance day antiques roadshow which was excellent and very moving.

Back to work today, we'll see what today brings, as I thought I've now been given the job that a lot of other staff don't like, and I've been given all my shift today, we'll see how it goes, upside is though I get an office of my own.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning hello.gif

Will someone please explain my dog to me?! I followed all the doggy firework rules – dens, turning the volume on the telly up, long walks before it gets dark, etc. But what works is letting him outside while the fireworks are going off! I'd like to point out I didn't deliberately try this :D A couple of days ago, Scamp was in the garden when fireworks started going off, he glanced up then ignored them, he just wanted to play. But when he was back in the house, he reacted to them. Last night, I let him out for a wee and he picked a ball up on the way back in, dropped it at my feet and waited for me to throw it. He grumbled (not quite a growl) at two big bangs but ignored everything else. I did a little test – brought him in but left the door and window open, he reacted a bit but nowhere near as badly as when he's shut in properly. The Adaptil and happy bones are staying but I'm not going to bother with anything else again :D

I had a lot of paperwork dropped off on saturday so I'll be working my way through that this week. I want to spend a bit of time in the garden today, I haven't done anything out there for about a week and it's looking messy. I haven't really done anything since friday morning so I need to dust, hoover and put some washing on. First – more coffee :D

    Morning all

Seems a bit milder here today and no frost :j which is good, meant to be quite a nice day by all accounts.

Off to work for me only a three day week this week as DD and I are off for our pre Christmas girls trip away which I am very much looking forward to, so a short week this week.

Roast pork for dinner tonight which is all done and in the fridge, will just heat it through once I get in tonight.

As predicted put village was packed out last with not a parking space to be had, a friend knocked on our door asking if he could park in our drive as there was nowhere else, for a tiny village it certainly attracts a lot of people for its fireworks.

Hopefully the fireworks will start trailing off after tonight and peace will reign until NYE.

Right better get on have good days all xx

tru Years ago I had a german shepard dog who would shake like a leaf during fireworks if in the house but if you snapped on his lead and took him out for a walk in the middle of it he bounced like a puppy and loved them he would sit down and gaze up it was really cute. We used to get many any an evil stare for taking him out but it worked a treat for him.

    Morning :)

Poor sleep again here not sure what the answer to this is except to sort out every single worry which isnt going to happen.

Well that was one lazy weekend but mostly enjoyable. Today I have to crack on with stuff for the accountant then do some accounts of my own after a very expensive month. No spending for me for a while now. Freezer diving and budgeting very much on the cards

Had some chilli and tortillas last night and have a bowl left so will make do with that today.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week :A

Sorry forgot to say I spoke to Holly yesterday

She is due to start her meds again today but is still wanting to self discharge and go home. I understand she must be desperate to leave by now but I am hoping she goes withe consultant advice which is to stay another 2 weeks whilst the drug settles. Seems one of her named nurses has been unpleasant with her which is prompting the need to go home ...really sad about this as the staff have been so good to her up to now. So fingers crossed she stays and comes back in a better place.

By the way folks its Holly's birthday on the 13th so will be sorting cards so if anyone wants me to add them to her OS card just let me know :)

Hugs for those who need / want them

    Hester, how is CHS?

    Not much sleep again.

Yesterday I managed to tidy my linen cupboard, have thrown several sheets and old towels into the rag bag, will be useful for cleaning etc. Everything put back so I can find it.

Hope you all have a good day
