Whilst this is a lovely story it has nothing to do with the OPs issue. Everything apple has done is in line with the policy and procedure outlined on their repair website. What the issue is is: did Apple mislead OP's husband into thinking a screen repair was possible, when they flat out dont do then for any reason, or did the OP's husband misunderstand...

It is not a lovely story. You try calling telephone banking at Clydesdale and see how you get on. I was simply meaning that asking for cards is normal.

    Its not 'normal'

Card details are only taken if there is the possibility of a charge. If you are giving out card details you have to ask yourself 'why are they taking these.' Clearly your Mum has had her card details misued. That is not what has happened here.

But he said it was security. Because I wa speaking. My mum was too upset.
  • Carphone’s head office is in London but the repairs staff who will have taken the call are in Preston - I used to be on the team there.
In my opinion there is absolutely no way a member of staff would have dared do this - the team leaders and quality team listen to a lot of calls, so the risk of being caught is far too high.

He did not have an accent from Lancashire and I assure you it was that person. That switch card sits in a drawer in her bedroom. The ONLY person who had those details was him from Carphonewarehouse.

What has this to do with the original post about an Apple watch?

But it sounds like it wasn't actually carphonewarehouse that you called but a scam company by mistake. As has been pointed out, just because a company has a head office somewhere doesn't mean that is where their call centres for customers will be based, you've hust been told by someone who used to work there that the call centre is in Preston and not London, which means you did not call the correct place if you spoke to somebody in London. Of course it is possible that somebody from London is now living in Preston but then why would they buy internet security and have it delivered to London if they no longer live there.

I've never heard of a scammer buying something as mundane as internet security, they tend to go for high end gadgets or clothes, things they can easily sell on.

I did call Carphone and I never said Preston I said the Argos delivery went to a London address and I know for a fact that my mums switch card sits in a drawer as it's her Direct Debit account. I gave those details over the phone to the operator at Carphone. I am not dolly dimple.
