Hi everyone,
I had a read through the newbies thread and have learned alot, but other websites/forums seem to all be contridicting one another.
Theres not much to my case really, i just ask for a bit of clarity really.
I parked up at a chain pub/restaurant which shares a carpark with premier inn after a late night shift at work.
I didn’t pay, i wont lie. I stayed half an hour, later i was told i could have input my reg number at the bar and all would be fine, too late! Dam!
Its not an excuse but basically i was tired, it was dark so i kinda just dumped the car and went.
I have returned during the day, the signage is pretty clear to be fair.
I feel im banged to rights and should pay, but i see the posts on here about apeal success and the prospect of saving £60 is rather tempting!
So basically, in your opinions, is it worth appealing or shall i just pay up?

Does the reverse page of your Notice to Keeper (NtK) contain a paragraph about the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, which commences 'You are notified under paragraph 9(2)(b) of Schedule 4 ..... '. And a further paragraph which commences ' You are warned that if, after 29 days from the date given ....'?Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

What did the chain pub/restaurant say when you asked them to cancel it for a valued customer?
Surely you read this in post #1 of the NEWBIES thread:ALL CASES - COMPLAIN FIRST, ESPECIALLY OVER A RETAIL, HOTEL, OR HOSPITAL CAR PARK:
Always complain to the Retailer very quickly and assertively, WITH A RECEIPT IF POSSIBLE:
Successful complaints about private parking tickets - how to get them cancelled! <<< CLICK
See how easy it can be to get these cancelled by a retailer/hotel/landowner. VERY EFFECTIVE AND DAMAGES THE PPC!0 -
I can't get used to paying to park for restaurants / pubs ..... or was it free as long as customers typed in the VRN? Just asking, it doesn't make any difference.
Presumably the 'justification' is to prevent non-patrons clogging up the car park. Well, that was not what happened in this case. This was a paying customer parking in the appropriate car park without which they probably wouldn't have been a customer! Pubs & restaurants need customers these days as never before.
Banged to rights my backside! Nobody has been inconvenienced, nobody has lost out (apart from the parking company & they don't count). I bet a strongly worded, very definite and clear complaint to the pub / restaurant will get this charge cancelled.0 -

Im thinking a polite letter to the landlord could be successful?
I was in the pub, didnt realise i had to put in my vrn, can we get this fine cancelled please, i enjoyed my time there and it’d be a shame if we cannot resolve this as i would like to come back.
Somethinggggggg kind of like that maybe?0 -
Yes, that's the way I would play it.0

Completely agree you have to compose these letters carefully. Whatever's best about the place, emphasise that - the whole point is that you would likely return again & again. But .... that was a costly pint or cup of tea or whatever and they don't know your personal circumstances, for some these charges are a disaster. So outrage belongs in there too I reckon, it's just you want to come across as a very reasonable outraged individual, the kind of customer they don't want to p*ss off!0

Sent the pub this, what you think?
Dear Sir/Madam,
On the 28th August i visited your restaurant/pub late evening, to which i really enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were wonderful, all in all it was a very pleasurable visit. I really enjoyed my time spent there, however the other day i recieved a parking ticket from parking eye in relation to my stay!
It has been brought to my attention that i had to give my vehicle registration number in order to park free of charge. I fully understand the reasons why this is in place, you wouldn’t want people using the carpark but not your restaurant of course.
I didn’t realise i had to do this at the time, could you please arrange for this penalty to be cancelled as i would love to come back.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Thanks.0
