For those that are wanting to drop from a paid plan to the free 15 page plan:

Cancel your instant ink plan from your online HP account and wait for the contract period to expire. On your printer, disable web services. If you then re-enable them you'll get a different printer claim code which should then allow you to subscribe to the 15 page plan for free.

Have you actually tried this successfully, as I thought each printer could be enrolled only once in instant ink?

  • Started this with the 15 pages free plan, but HP started charging me for printing pages over the 15 limit, but I was using ink I bought before I signed up. This can't be right. Also confused about the free trail which has a £1.99 per month charge - how can that be free??

hp are going to be replacing the ink in your eligible printer so i can't see a problem with charging if you go over the 15 pages. you would normally buy an eligible printer (incl ink) before signing up.

its not a free trial if you are paying 1.99 per month.

i know this is mse and everything should be free but imo 1.99 per month is a good price for an excellent service and am surprised hp hasn't increased it in all the years i have been signed up

  • 1.99 is the best plan....you get 50 pages plus 100 rollover , plus very economical charge for additional pages if used at all, plus you can keep referring friends and you will get free months every now and then. Whenever someone enrolls and I know I have a free month at hand I change to a higher plan, print all my planned workloads and then change to the lower plan just before I am about to run out of free months. There is a login you can create on HP Instant Ink site and it also has a mobile app where you can keep track of not only your plan, billing cycles but also, due date, remaining pages, remaining rollovers, any additional pages used, ink refill status, shipping sttaus etc

Oh dear, it's only the best if it suits the individual. I have printed anything for about 7 weeks, so how does your plan, and the one I had previously, make it the "best plan".

Note, I will say this only once.

  • Free Printing Plan. Allows you to print up to 15 pages per month for the life of your printer. Well after 7 months my free for life had gone. Contradictory terms and conditions or what!

I note this on Instant Ink web page>
    • HP Instant Ink cartridges do not work after the end of your current billing period, and you are required to return them to HP. To continue printing after your billing cycle ends, make sure you have standard replacement ink cartridges ready to use in your printer.
Do the Instant Ink cartridges cease to work after cancellation?
