  • So it’s been several weeks since I last updated and as a consequence my spending has gone out of control because regular updates keep me accountable and focused every day.
Time for a bit of a refocus and get back on track, debt hasn’t increased thankfully however I am still not managing to keep my day to day spends under control and keep dipping into my savings pots for things when I have overspent in other areas. Food shopping is still not under control and this combined with our wine consumption at the weekend is tipping the balence.

  • :wave:Welcome back & well done for not adding to the debt x
  • So new washer dryer arrives tomorrow, mum has kindly been doing our laundry for the past week since the washing machine finally gave up, I think I was overloading it and damaged the drum! Desperate to get back on track with my debt busting, savings pots ect, I had an embarrassing moment yesterday in front of a colleague when my card was declined in costa, fortunately I had cash to cover it but I’m fed up with my lifestyle not being in line with my goals! I’m constantly fighting myself on everything. I’ve got several things coming up this month that I just can’t afford but I’m too embarrassed to tell people the truth and would rather save face and struggle all month! I need help!

  • So... need to get motivated about my finances again, I have fell of the wagon in spectacular style over the last few months, I haven’t added to my debt however I am not making any real progress either in terms of paying off additional or building up my savings pots.
    I have £1316.99 on a Halifax 0% credit card
    I have a £400 overdraft
I have no savings for Christmas
So although it’s not a massive amount it’s not really going as fast as I would like it to.
I can feel an eBay marathon coming on!

  • I have just paid £16.99 over to the Halifax credit card to bring it down to £ 1300. Need to crack on with this now as my aim was to have it under £1000 by Christmas, so £300 to find before the end of the year, it’s doable but will be a challenge. eBay not going as well as I would of liked, I’ve been knocked off my feet the last few days with a nasty bug so I’ve only managed to list 7 things.

  • So I’ve spent way too much time over the last 2 days on here and the MFW boards and it has renewed my enthusiasm, need to get a move on. My aim for today is to list 10 items on eBay, going to list all on BIN and if I price them sensibly hopefully they will sell quickly. Would love to try and make a quick £50. It’s suddenly dawned on me I have only 1 more pay day before xmas and I have made no provisions for this !

  • So I have managed to list 10 items some on buy it now and some on auction. Let’s hope the eBay gods are on my side this weekend! I was shocked at how much my clothes vary on size, I have items from a size 8 up to a size 16, a bit of a wake up call in terms of my diet and overall weight management which has been a constant battle for me for as far back as I can remember, I can recall being in junior school and worrying about getting weighed by the nurse and this has stayed with me all my life. A bit off topic but I’m sure it’s all related somehow!

Anyway off to the recycling center now with some bits and pieces that we need to declutter from the house and I need to find a cardboard box for some cd’s and books for music magpie!

  • So i have just read back over my diary from start to finish to try and understand myself a bit better, I have come to the conclusion that I have no willpower, no consistency, I have big ideas but am completely unable to see them through because as soon as the going gets a bit tough I loose focus and go off the rails, I also get swept away with the idea of something get completely obsessed by it for a few weeks and then loose interest in it!
My diary is like a stuck record just constantly repeating the same things over and over and nothing changing!
Time to do what the title suggests and take back the control!

  • Task list for today

List another 10 things on eBay
Sort out freezer and make meal plan and shopping list for next weeks meals
    Sort laundry and put away
Look at list of direct debits and see if this can be reduced and or make action plan on how I can reduce in future
Start to make a Christmas list!

  • Quite a productive afternoon, the laundry folding turned into me completely re-organising OH wardrobe and drawers, he had so much stuff just rammed in and in no sort of order, so I ripped it all out, re-homed all of his coats and jackets to the rail in the spare room and organised all his shirts by occasion and then coulor and then did the same with jeans and trousers and then the same with his chest of drawers. It looks so much more organised and nice and tidy, I just need to do my wardrobe now!
I have cleaned out the freezer and done a meal plan and a shopping list for tomorrow.
I have had a quick look at all my direct debits and the one thing that stands out at the moment is my subscription to now tv, I don’t really watch it but just want to finish series 5 of the affair and then that will be going, it’s only £8.99 a month but I never watch it and we have Netflix as well which is staying.
