Just making myself a note of some big spends we have coming up.

    1. Car insurance
    2. Tow bar and electrics on car (£450).
    3. School shoes for DS1 & DS2.
    4. Clothes for DS1 for holiday (he’s grown out of his).
    5. Walking boots for kids for holiday.

Kids have also announced they want a birthday party (their birthdays are in September).

DS1 has asked for a laptop for his birthday. Sigh.

I’m sure there was more stuff to fork out for - I’ll add it to this post when I remember it. I’ve no memory atm, can only assume it’s peri related.

Well the tow bar and car insurance are done and dusted.

Thursday is the clothes shopping day. So I will no doubt be penniless after that.

I’m just in the process of sorting the boys drawers of the things that are too small. They seem to be growing like weeds at the moment.

I need to look up when Omaze are going to announce I’ve won the Yorkshire house (I wish). It’s my ideal property in one of our favourite areas, so I would dearly love to win it.

I’ve started couch to 5k with DS1. On run one the sole of my trainer fell off. Which meant buying a new pair. Run 2 my sports bra was incredibly uncomfortable (wrong size) so had to buy a new one of those too. Honestly, I thought I was taking up an inexpensive hobby. How wrong I was. Still hopefully it should be ok now (fingers crossed).

Right time to stop procrastinating and get back to sorting these clothes out.

Oops to the sole of your trainer falling off on a run - you definitely needed a new pair.  And a decent sports bra is non-negotiable for most sports, even for classes like aerobics, but I know what you mean about running and thinking its inexpensive

Hope you have a lovely holiday

Quick general update. Just finished Week 4 of C25K. Still doing it with my son. I’m so proud of him.

Probably going to miss a couple of weeks now unfortunately because we are away on a walking holiday and I don’t want to overdo it. Will try the next run if we have a gentle couple of days together though.

The other week DH collapsed at the gym, ended up going into hospital for 24 hours. They think a viral infection. Then DS2 had a nasty allergic reaction. Then my grandma got rushed in (she’s 91), with internal bleeding. THEN FIL got rushed in due to a gastrointestinal virus.

It’s been intense to say the least. DS2 is absolutely fine. DH and FIL are ok, but still week and recovering. My grandma is in respite care and unlikely to ever live by herself again. The are looking at homes for her. I’m not 100% sure how much longer she will last tbh. They’ve found a few lumps internally which could potentially be cancerous but as she wouldn’t survive any treatment they aren’t going to biopsy them.

So this break is very very much appreciated.

Holiday was the lovely relaxing break we all needed. Work has hit me like a train - it's not been pleasant.

I have however made another OP of £500 today which should reduce my mortgage to the figure we were aiming for when we remortgage - which is at the end of this month. Yay.

Then one we know what our actual payments will be, we can rejig all our finances and see where we stand going forward.

I have to fork out another 100 for DS1's residential as well. And it'll cost another 165 next month. I feel like I'm hemorrhaging money atm.

More money spent this month as our front door broke. £85 to fix it. Sigh. And I forked out £199 for new glasses. All unexpected expenses but hey ho.

Still I’m keeping with with the running with DS1. C25K week 6, run 2 completed last night.

Argh so annoying. I can't check our online mortgage account. We start our remortgage at the end of the month and it's obviously offline as a consequence and it's annoying. It doesn't actually matter, however, I just find it annoying that I can't log in and check.

The return to school has hit with a thud. School are sorting the request for an EHC needs assessment for DS2. They feel they have the evidence needed now. The impact of the return to school is tremendous. We've had a lovely summer. Now I'm lucky if DS2 has 7 very broken hours sleep, which in turn means the rest of us do. I'm exhausted.

It doesn't help that work is crazy too and it's high school application time for DS1. I think we know what we are applying for, but my goodness it just feels stressful. He's loving year 6, but I'm very worried about the impact of high school on him. He doesn't cope well with change and has never coped well when he's had more than 1 teacher. He can't remember to bring his books home from school and we've had to go back a couple of times to collect his homework because he's just not remembered to bring it home. He's zero organisational skills...just like his dad.

Still I'll embrace the one year of them having the same drop off and pick up times at the same place and cross that bridge when I come to it. I need to figure out nearer the time if I'll need to change how I work my hours at work. We shall see.

So I can check the online account and it looks like we'll be below our target of 180K for the remortgage - yay.

Running has stopped as I'm poorly - full of a cold. So I've not run for a week. I'm feeling pretty disappointed, which has to be good because it must mean on some level I want to do it. I'm just waiting to see if it goes to my chest now and becomes a chest infection (fingers crossed it won't). I really don't want another chest infection.

I'm going to stop posting on this thread when the remortgage starts and open a new one (I'll link the two), so I can start fresh with our new priorities. Just need to think off a new name for it.

But looks like in 5 years I will have paid off roughly 55K off the mortgage. So I won't sniff at that. It will be a challenge to repeat that with the interest rate not far from doubling, but I will try my best.
