I've seen it, they pledged half as much as is actually needed. Can you tell me if this money is ringfenced and will definitely be spent on mental health?
    Hi xXMessedUpXx,

At the moment we don't know exactly how the money will be allocated, or whether it will be ring-fenced. All we have at this stage is the Budget itself, some library analysis and those details raised in the debates. Today is the final day of debates, after which the Budget Bill will be tabled and the Treasury Select Committee will begin to scrutinise it. At this stage we will have access to much more information and be able to direct as to how to raise any concerns you may have with those who can advocate for you on the issues you are passionate about.

I'll update this reply as soon as I have anything further I can share.

I’m the official organisation rep for the House of Commons. I do not work for or represent the government. I am politically impartial and cannot comment on government policy. Find out more in DOT's Mission Statement.

  • Hi Rubik,
That's great news, it really can make a difference to have people who are experts (from living a situation) informing their MPs who can advocate for real change. I hope that your MP is responsive and active,

I consider myself to be an expert, (from living a situation). Unfortunately i don't have a empathetic MP.

I have now 'lost' my disability benefits, due to a highly flawed DWP assessment process, a highly flawed assessment company and an even more highly flawed assessor and decision maker.

You might be able to stop my benefits so i am unable to live, but can't take away my health conditions or provide a cure, for that matter,

The prognosis for one of my conditions was 5 years, in any case. I've had as good an innings as i could expect. I've been close to death probably more times than anyone. I'm not frightened of death, probably unlike most people. Death is a release from pain and suffering. I've had more will to fight than most. That's what people say. I no longer have the will or energy to fight. I've always said i've no wish to become housebound and turn into a vegetable.

Even a fighter can reach their limits. I'm in a no win situation either versus the government or my health.

There's only one winner when you see the only way out as taking your own life?

    Just another government statistic.......................

Barney - It just got up and went.
