The Micra is a Renault Clio, and I wouldn't touch a 3 cylinder turbo that claims 95BHP from 900 cc.
I'd agree with that, if the Micra becomes your choice go for the 1.2.

I wouldn't let the fact that Renault and Nissan are sharing platforms put you off, but I'd buy the Nissan over the Renault all day long, in fact I'd advise you not to buy anything French or Italian!!

I had a Peugeot once before - it was the worst car I've ever had, it felt so tinny and flimsy and the screen was a nightmare to use. I got rid of it very quickly! The only good thing about it was the colour!

    Hyundai without question.

    Don't touch an ecoboost

It depends on whether you will look to change again within any of the warranty periods. Personally I wouldn't touch Ford with a bargepole having experienced appalling customer service at my local Ford garage.

I had a Ford Focus Ecoboost and my wife had a Fiesta Ecoboost and we loved the cars generally but as I say Ford CS were awful and there are the known issues with the Ecoboost engines which is why we got rid.

I currently have a Ford and the Ecoboost issues are worrying me. I love it, hence thinking about another one with the camera, but there's enough doubt there to make me look elsewhere.

I've looked at Nissan and I can only have the Micra in a 1.2 if I go bottom of the range which isn't what I want to do. It's looking like Hyundai as I can't have the Kia in top of the range non-turbo either.

Go for a Polo with the 1.4 TSI auto, sweetest small engine and DSG all round ! Avoid all these 3 cylinder nonsense engines, no longevity imo, over stretched and over boosted, trouble waiting to happen.

We had smart with the same 0.9t engine fitted to the Nissan.

It had a turbo failure at about 12,000 miles and I wasn't confident it wouldn't fail again. Dealers were also useless.

It was a no brainer what to swap it for. (We once had an i20 and that was also a dog of a car)

A latest generation Yaris. 1.5 non turbo engine which I am confident will be as bomb proof as the 1.33 unit it replaces, 50+ mpg isn't a problem, 5 year warranty. Even the entry model has everything we need. Move up and you will get satnav etc.

A brand new Hyundai i20 will come with a five year warranty. That would be the clincher for me. They are also very good cars.
If I remember correctly, when i20 clutches failed after a few thousand miles Hyundai rejected warranty claims as "wear and tear". One to avoid as far as I am concerned.

I have a fiesta with the Ecoboost engine, it’s my second one, so far I have had no engine problems, it is a very smooth engine even with three cylinders, most of the problems were on focuses but a few early fiestas were affected, it was the degas pipes that failed dumping all the coolant, causing the engine to overheat, thus destroying them, but I would think all of the problems would be sorted, and ford modified the pipes so as to ( hopefully) prevent further problems, have heard of issues with the new polos, mainly a few electrical faults, but I guess all cars can have problems at some stage,

I had a new shape Micra as a courtesy car. I have to say I was actually pleasantly surprised by it overall. The one thing that would put me of was the price. The car I had was about £18k and there's no way I'd be spending that on a Micra!

I keep looking at the Kia Rio. We're due to replace the 108 in the next 6 months and want something the next size up. We'll probably end up with a Corsa lol!

If your username is linked to your location, DON'T get a Corsa! :rotfl:

We had a new Rio when they first changed them to the more European standard, a 55 reg and it was the most reliable car I have ever owned.
