Warning - Fray Bentos

I'm not sure if anyone has already posted, however. I bought 2 Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney pies, they can be quite nice and when I am feeling lazy can make a nice change from my normal choice of chicken.
I cooked one, cut in half, lots of gravy - no meat.
I cooked the second, cut in half, lots of gravy - again zero meat.
So I emailed them, advising how disappointed I was, please see their response below. (copied exactly as I received)
Thank you for contacting BaxersFood Group.
I'm sorry to hear you wereunhappy with the amount of meat in the pie you purchased. Due to inflationarypressures a decision was taken to reduce the meat content of some of ourproducts in order to retain the same price point.
Fray Bentos takes pride in providingaffordable meals for millions of customers every year. We believe our piesstill deliver value for money, with the same great taste that has madethem a family favourite for over 60 years.
Please rest assured however, that we take all custome feedback seriously and we appreciate you takingthe time to share your comments with us.

Surely them selling the pies as 'steak and kidney' breaks the trades description as there was neither steak or kidney, and now they are saying they have 'lessened' the amount of meat in the pies - in my case to zero. They didn't even offer recompense, so I'm quite unhappy and wish the word to get around.

You could have complained to the shop where you bought the pies, it's them you have a contract with not Baxters.0

I did, they are looking into it.0

At least you had meat, in reality I had a gravy pie
Ah well lesson learned for me not to buy again, and not be lazy to make my own0 -

I would email back saying there was ZERO meat as opposed to a small amount of meat.
Low meat content should be noted on the packaging, but a meat pie should have some meat.
If there was truly not a trace of meat at all, then tell them that.0 -

I agree with this.
Was there a 'meat content' percentage on the label?
Or are you just exaggerating about being no meat?0 -
I sent them a photo - with the crust and without, you can clearly see no meat. I didn't think the water shortage had hit the beef market quite so hard.0

We used to have them when I was a child, I only each the crust and some gravy the meal was fatty and vile.0

Was there?
If the label says 15% meat (or whatever) doesn't it have to contain at least that percentage?
Not sure on this, maybe someone could clarify.0 -

Surely it has to, otherwise I could advertise 70% meat pies and not bother to put any in?
Anyway if there was TRULY no meat at all (like not even shredded throughout the gravy etc) then theres a problem.
If they have recently lowered their meat content as they state they are probably getting loads of people emailing saying 'where's the meat!' because theres not a lot of meat in it and it has changed. Therefore they may not realise you are saying there is 0% meat in this pie...0 -
