It is time to renew my mobile phone contract (in uk). I am currently paying £30 a month for 200 mins and 300 texts. I feel I could get far better - are there any student deals going?

You are best just to look at normal deals. There is lots of information on the Mobiles board.
What has your current provider offered you to stay with them?Gone ... or have I?0 -

I am on Virgin - £25 per month 300 texts 300 minutes and any unused carried over to next month. Always good custoemr service, always reply to emails and I have saved loads by emailing them for 'advice' on their products. (No I don't work for Virgin)

I'm on 3, they seem to have the best new contract deals. If you go for lowest phone here mix of 500 mins/texts (which you are on now plus 300 3 to 3 mins) its £18.

I am with O2 PAYG which gives me 300 free texts a month if I top up by atleast £10 a month. This only includes 1.0mb of internet surfing time. This is pretty useful for me because I am a texter and hardly call so well worth it.Win £2008 in 2008 member's club 777 :cool:0

Actually, I am with Dot Mobile and I have had no end of problems with them. I got my phone about six months ago. It arrived nice and quickly and there was no problems with that. However, I got my phone because of an NUS offer. They said they would give me £10 to refund the cost of my NUS extra card and despite having called them loads of times, I have never received it. Also the advertised line rental is not as low as it seems. Although I had to upgrade my allowance to £35 a month to benefit from using my phone, when I received my first bill, I discovered you get VAT whacked on top, thus bringing the basic costs up to over £41 a month.
So the actual cost of the tariff is much higher than they advertise. Beware, there may be other iffy bits to them too.0 -
Yikes! Will steer clear. My post was actually a response to someone who was supposedly spamming...but that post has gone so my response seems a bit out of place now.

Always go directly with the network, don't bother with these middle men - often offer you cashback deals which are impossible to get. There was an article on Watchdog on it the other week.
Orange do a student deal but when I looked at it it seemed more expensive that their normal deals as I think it just gave you a load of texts and no minutes so really an absolute waste of time.0
