Revisited the car park. Signs are laughable!
‘45 minutes free parking’ followed in tiny font by ‘if you exceed the free parking allowance you agree
To pay £100’ in tiny font. Never did I agree to any such thing!0 -
all grist for the mill then , so keep your evidence safe for now
poor and inadequate signage is one of the best pieces of evidence you can have
if necessary, send CEL an SAR to get all their evidence and docs and pics etc too
if you need landowner details , you can pay the Land Registry a small fee to get them if nothing else pans out0 -
Would be really grateful if you could point me in the right direction!
The comments were aimed at another user, who was referencing the parking charges as fines/penaltys.
The general rule on here is to never pay a parking companies over exaggerated charges - only a sensible standard rate such as pay and display/pay on exit £1.50/hour and not the £100 charge for a few minutes over/parking slightly on a white line/parking a blue car in a space for cyan vehicles and so on.
As you have discovered you appear to have parked in a multiple outlet site, was this a sainsburys local/metro?
You may find them quoting stuff and nonsense about the Beavis case‘45 minutes free parking’ followed in tiny font by ‘if you exceed the free parking allowance you agree
To pay £100’ in tiny font.
Re Beavis, what you stated above works in your favourFrom the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
Yes I have taken signs tonight it’s a shame I can’t upload them!0
-
you can
you upload them to tinypic, then add a "dead" URL in your reply, by changing the link from HTTP to HXXP, we will fix it for you0 -
Signs are misleading and inadequate in my mind. Also photographic evidence from CEL does not substantiate their claims! I’m going to send a SAR to them tomorrow0

From HayleyD83's defence posted further above it's a Sainsbury's Local "Sainsbury’s Local Supermarket 324 Hook Rd, Chessington, Surrey", search Google Maps for "9M8V+X5 Chessington" for the location.
I can see a small car park via Satellite view, no signage via Street View though,0 -
