Didn't you read that this was for current accounts?
Does it really matter? This is a 'for fun' thread with random strangers quite possibly giving random numbers for the number of accounts they have.

For entertainment purposes only... no need to tell people off for not following the inaccurately defined rules. :)

Me? I have 200 current accounts, but think I might manage with only 1 if necessary. ;)

Well change it to a 'how many accounts do you have' and we can play another pointless game of who has the most accounts. You could have one person with 20 accounts and £1k in each, or one person with 1 account with £50k in it. Number of accounts isn't always a reflection of how much are in them.

I don't see what's inaccurate about saying how many are regular savers when the poll says 'current account', seems pretty well defined to me but then I can't account for others inaccurate interpretation.

Yet the thread title - the first thing most people will see, and said in big bold letters - says "How many bank accounts do we have?"

Like I suggested, and you've now said outright, it is only a pointless game. There was no need for you to tell Wearside off. :)

I have lost count of the amount of people on MSE who bicker over nothing. Even something as straightforward as a poll has to turn into a dispute of who, what, where, why and how. Some people need to sit back and chill out.

Please dont start threads that allow people to boast how many theve got, we dont care.
Here we go again...Now all the disbelievers will be posting, questioning how this can be possible...

    "boast"? "disbelieve"?

Do you people read what you type? We're talking about bank accounts for God's sake!!! Now you can get funny and try and split it down in to current accounts, savings accounts, regular savers so on & so forth but Jesus Christ way to take things waaaaaaaaaaay too seriously eh??

I mean really, i don't know what's worse, the idea that someone could "boast" about how many accounts they have, the idea that someone could think that someone else is "boasting" by giving a certain number or the fact that people actually come in and like that kind of comment, i assume showing that they have the same mindset?!

And then to top it off we have a post like...

"We" don't have any, because I don't open joint accounts with people I don't know. The number of accounts that I have is of no relevance to you.

Well no s##t!!!!!!!!!! And the OP probably wouldn't even know you existed if you chose to stay being irrelevant by not posting on the damn thread!!!!!!

You lot would probably try kill a clown at a kids party for trying to lighten the mood.

When there's nothing to moan about then it's time to moan about nothing.

I think that's the motto many members here live by.

Yay yet another "How many bank accounts" thread. I wonder if this will be followed by a "How many credit cards" thread?

Personally, I have two bank accounts at this time not counting my French account and in anticipation I don't have a combined credit card limit of a quarter of a million pounds!
  • I had a little trouble when applying for my mortgage but my IFA sorted it out for me. They were more concerned how at 30 earning 15-18k per year i'd saved 40k. Apparently I'm supposed to piddle it down the drain at weekends and having a goal of saving as much as I could isn't believable.

Looking back on it now I can only assume the lender had read too much of the MSE forums & got in to that instant disbelieve mindset.

I had about 35 accounts (current, savings, credit cards) in total at the time.

Not sure if I'm bragging or lying or what. I'll let the MSEpolice decide.

Give them statements from your main account. It is unlikely they'll ask for more. It's possible to have a completely clean current account that takes no part in the cycling - in that case there's a very low chance of a lender asking for statements from any other accounts.

I didn’t do that, trouble is a clean current account looks empty, especially when direct debits are shared around. Part of the problem was that none of my accounts looked normal ie received salary and paid bills. Salary went into the hub and then splintered, so in the end I had to give them statements from about 11 current accounts with an a4 page of exactly why I was pinging £1500 around a dozen accounts to myself :rotfl:

By "clean" I meant free of large transfers in and out of the account and other difficult to explain activity. My "clean" account receives my salary and pays out all of my important transactions (1 main credit card DD, one energy DD and a standing order for my rent, also any ATM withdrawals come from this account), but good to know the 'hub and spokes' approach can be explained away.

Yes, might be achievable and you can obvs make it work. With the DD requirements, I’ve spread all my genuine DDs around so not as to need artificial ones, so when they ask how I spend money on food, I say credit card, they ask how I pay it, and then I need to show them an account that’s fed from the hub with 2 DDs and 4x transactions per month.

They then ask how I pay energy bills etc and it’s off to another account etc. All good fun and games.
