Gladstones Letter Before Claim Oct 2018 - How should I respond?

(thanks to CM finding a space right outside, and standing in it preventing anyone else from taking it!)..
I was an amused bystander once in Spain when a fat German lady tried that on a wily Spanish Gentleman. WSG gently nudged her out of the way with his car.
I hope you will be claiming your costs against these scammers, have you read this?

StubbornGoat ..... a great read and no wonder you enjoyed yourself :j
I agree with coupon-mad, the bar should be lifted when asking for costs, the judge can only say no but he might say yes.
The problem with Gladstones, just like the other dodgy legals, they talk the talk and then send a rent-a-legal freshman to court ?
HOW STUPID IS THAT ?
Very pleased for you and hope you can pass on your new knowledge to others on this forum.
Coupon-mad is a force to be reckoned with and who knows she could turn up at any case with her whooping stick
To Gladstones ...... GROW UP and stop pretending something you are not ?0 -
Super, super report SG. Would have loved to have sat in on that - but a long, long way away!So finally; thank you all again for the help I have received during all this. I am super grateful and look forward to paying it forward now that I know so much more.
Nice bit of feel good to this evening. Great stuff. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

StubbornGoat says he will contribute when he can and he has another case v OPS in play, again being argued on the POFA and signs.
His preparation and reading for this UKCPM case and presentation of the paperwork was brilliant and you will be a great addition whenever you can make time to post here, SG.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Surely, the time has come for UKCPM to dump Gladstones as being totally unsuitable and not fit for purpose0

I'm pretty sure their win:loss ratio is well in their favour.
PPC court losses, while 'big' for us, are minor collateral damage to most of them ram-raiding and manipulating the county court system. PPCs earning millions a year cannot be fools!
But that it would stick in my gut to follow their malevolent ways, I wouldn't mind being a pound behind them on my bottom line! :cool:Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. Maybe, we do not know, but on the balance of probabilities, for those we do not about, and as the courts are well aware of the Gladstones rubbish, and as there are a limited number of county courts, I doubt they are ahead in the scam0 -

C'mon. While Parking Cowboys no longer issue their daily list of court cases, when they did, it was clear that UKCPM had overtaken PE significantly in becoming the country's most litigious PPC.
Most daily cases were for those who had never been to us or PePiPoo for advice. I suspect the majority had little idea of how to defend themselves - lambs to the slaughter. And that's not including those who (after visiting the toilet on receipt of Gladstone court papers) rapidly signed and posted a cheque by return to avoid court.
I bet since the year started, there hasn't been any more court wins reported here against UKCPM than you can count on the fingers of both hands.

Well, you are not wrong but neither are you right, same as me.
I refer to court cases, not those who just pay up in fear0 -
It’s a numbers game. The business model requires some cases go to court pour encourager les autres when it comes to payment.
Assuming an advocate is paid c. £100+VAT as a brief fee there’s not much margin even when they win - especially if those costs are trimmed or not recovered.
The fact is, however, that many will settle once proceedings are issued, so the ppc is generally onto a winner. If any case comes to a final hearing your prospects of success are never much better than 50% precisely because litigation is unpredictable- what persuaded a judge in Manchester ain’t necessarily going to in Southampton.
I’m inclined to accept the notion that more form defences are successful than not, but I don’t think there is good enough data to truly know the won ratio. We’ve got to allow for reporting bias (some losers won’t file a match report but all winners will) nor can we account for “forum lurkers” who may take ideas win or lose, whilst never starting a thread.0
