Somebody I know said a while back they'd only just realised the plastic tape on a bread bag was made so you could put it back on to seal the bag up after taking slices out. I think she was in her 40s.
I carefully peel that away, so it's intact, then stick it to the bottom of the loaf. I then twist the top and use a clip to keep it sealed. That way I can more easily see the BBE date and it's less fiddly.
I don't think they use that tape for that purpose, it's just how some people have re-used it to reseal their loaf bags. It's a faff to try.0 -
Not in my house, 12 mile round trip to the nearest one, plus ready grated cheese is a very expensive way to buy cheese I grate a bowl at a time and stick it in the fridge
I'm with you 100% on this one, JackieO. Maybe it's my age, but to be honest I just couldn't imagine buying grated cheese unless my hand was paralysed.0 -

We don't eat bread anymore, but used to reseal loaves like that for years. We didn't find it a faff.Make £2025 in 2025

Probably because 90% of the plastic peelers are so rubbish/flimsy that it's not usable.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Peeling bananas, allegedly.
Monkeys peel bananas from the "flat" end rather than the stalk end. I still remain unconvinced by this. Yes, you don't get the hard bit left at the end of the banana but, depending on how ripe it is, you still have to use your fingernails to pierce the skin. It's a bit messy.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. I drive a BMW and apparently there is a stalk by the steering wheel which you can move up and down to make orange lights on each side of the car flash so other road users know your intentions. Genius! Why don't all car manufactures fit these?0

Oh my god! How stupid I've been for the past 50 or so years! All wrong! Hangs head in shame!
Thank you Daily Mail for putting me right.
(Easier still, just take a big bite out of the block. No one will notice.)0
