Hey guys,
Came across this article and it turns out we've been using cheese graters all wrong (well I certainly have). This is a total game changer!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/food/article-6278003/Youve-grating-cheese-wrong.html
Does anyone have any other suggestions for objects we've been using wrong?

Here are a few from MSE Towers to get you started...
- MSE Sarah: There are cardboard tabs hidden at the side of boxes of cling film and foil. Just poke these through and let them sit within the cardboard tube – hey presto, everything should roll out easily with no fighting. This Youtube video shows how.
- MSE Jenny: It took me ages to realise why baby vests have those envelope-style necks. It’s so if you’re dealing with a poo-nami, you can pull the vests down over their shoulders rather than over the top of their heads.
- MSE Naomi: Ever noticed those holes in the middle of pasta cooking spoons? Apparently they’re the perfect size to measure out a single serving of dried spaghetti.
- MSE Megan: When opening a tube of toothpaste, paint, gel etc, you’ll often notice a tiny spike on the top of the cap. These are designed for piercing the film – if this is news to you, this Youtube video explains all.
- MSE Tony: I only recently found out that a + sign on nappies didn’t mean they're slightly bigger, ie, a 4.5 rather than a 4. Apparently it just means they have added absorbency, so are more suitable for overnight.

I am frequently amazed that I have reached the age of 63 as it seems I have pretty much committed every wrong-doing reported by the auspicious Daily Mail. Thank goodness they are now doing their best to ensure I live the rest of my allotted time in a much more meaningful manner.0

Will it? My gater is one sided and fit's onto a plastic box and grates stuff into it.
This article seems to assume there is only one type of grator.
In fact I tend to use a different one most.

My grater fits on a plastic box it was from ikea, so grates horizontal into the box but personally I tip it slightly vertical as I find it easier.
Whatever floats your boat :rotfl:Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

I remember my mum getting one of those (exactly the same) in the 60's and we thought it was wonderful - no more 'skinned fingers/knuckles' :j.
I've got one now - but it's made of plastic and nowhere near as sharp.
When I first got married, I was absolutely 'gobsmacked' by my MIL's attempts to open a box of soap powder. She always used a sharp and pointed knife, but opened the box upside-down (in the exact position of the perforated bit). I kept showing her the 'perforated bit' - on the top of the side of the packet - and that it could be used to 'close the box' to stop the contents from accidentally spilling out ................... but she continued to use that sharp knife.
